Palin even LIED about Miss Congeniality award.
http://www.stltoday.com/stltoday/news/columnists.nsf/debpeterson/story/23D7A0CF8A2E3A61862574B50011DB30?OpenDocument

Amy Gwin, 43, of University City, grew up in Alaska and competed in the Miss Wasilla, Alaska, competition in 1984 against GOP vice presidential choice Sarah Palin. Gwin said Friday that she won the Miss Congeniality award in the competition, although Palin's Wikipedia entry says she won the contest — and the Miss Congeniality award.

And school accomplishments:
Gwin, who was president of her class, does not recall Palin holding school office. The Wikipedia entry on Palin said she was head of the school's Fellowship of Christian Athletes and captain of the basketball team.

AND her Wikipedia entry got a good 'scrubbing' 24 hours before McCain's announcement:
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/us_and_americas/us_elections/article4653971.ece

A lying liar. Right at home in the Republican party. The laugh is how petty these lies are, but given how thin her resume is...

1. Sarah Palin didn't write her Wikipedia entry.
Edited on Mon Sep-01-08 04:33 PM by Eric J in MN
If the entry is wrong in saying that she won "Miss Congeniality" that isn't Sarah Palin's fault (unless she has lied about it elsewhere.)

4. Her entry was REWRITTEN 24 hours before McCain made his announcement
by author 'Young Trig' and you honestly believe they had nothing to to with it.

She's a liar. And a crappy one at that.

...or asked someone to, no I don't believe that.

10. How niave are you? You don't think politician's agents edit Wikipedia?

Especially when it's well documented that SOMEONE made over 30 positive edits to her entry within 24 hours before the announcement?

Are you REALLY that gullible?

Here, from NPR:

Palin's Wikipedia Entry Gets Overhaul

If you happened to check Sarah Palin's Wikipedia entry Thursday, you might have had a good tip about Friday's announcement.

Someone — and apparently it was just one person — felt like the existing biography wasn't appropriate for a vice-presidential candidate.

On Friday, 15 minutes before the rumor that John McCain had picked Palin as his running mate, a Wikipedia editor discovered 30 mostly favorable changes had been made to the Alaska governor's profile.

12. I didn't write that "politician's agents" don't edit Wikipedia.
I wrote that I don't believe that Sarah Palin told someone to edit her Wikipedia entry.

I don't know if she's familiar with Wikipedia.

13. Ha. She's a LIAR. And her LIES range from petty to serious.
Edited on Mon Sep-01-08 05:29 PM by kineta
You'll see. In the coming days, her lies are going to get aired.

From 'The Bridge to Nowhere', to firing Walt Monegan for not doing her bidding, to petty crap like rewriting Wikipedia entries and claiming the Miss Congeniality title.

What a laugh this all is.

I know I've heard HER say it.

EDIT: Wait, I thought Miss Congeniality was some type of runner up kind of prize. Didn't she win that contest, and then go on to the state contest? Maybe she won Miss Congeniality there?

7. Editing - and re-editing - Sarah Palin's Wikipedia entry
http://www.iht.com/articles/2008/09/01/business/link.php

In the 24 hours before the McCain campaign put the finishing touches on its surprise announcement Friday that Governor Sarah Palin of Alaska would be the Republican vice presidential candidate, one Wikipedia user was putting the finishing touches on her biography on the site.

Beginning at 2 a.m. Eastern time on Thursday, a Wikipedia user with the name YoungTrigg began an overhaul of the article. The user added compelling stories about her upbringing, including that "she earned the nickname 'Sarah Barracuda' because of her intense play" as point guard for her high school basketball team and that she and her father "would sometimes wake at 3 a.m. to hunt moose before school."

In total, YoungTrigg - whose moniker is a reference to Palin's infant son, Trig - made 30 "edits" to the article, all positive and largely unnoticed, since they came at a time when few were discussing her as a possible running mate to Senator John McCain.

The coincidence of the user's name, and the sudden spurt of activity just before news broke of McCain's choice, has raised suspicions that YoungTrigg was a campaign operative tasked to make sure that Palin's Wikipedia article was ready for prime time, much as handlers have been assigned to do the same for the candidate.

17. It's McCain that I'm worried about.
Shouldn't we at least have a president that's smart enough to know someone that's smart enough to be vice president? That's not asking too much. The choice of VP is being made from the shadows. Just whose puppet is he?

18. THAT'S an interesting question. Who Vetted Palin
Have you seen THIS?:

(lots of links to this, but here's one: http://www.thenation.com/blogs/campaignmatters/352178/ultra_secretive_right_wing_group_met_in_minn_to_vet_palin)

Ultra-Secretive Right-Wing Group Met In Minn. To Vet Palin

Last week, while the media focused almost obsessively on the DNC's spectacle in Denver, the country's most influential conservatives met quietly at a hotel in downtown Minneapolis to get to know Sarah Palin. The assembled were members of the Council for National Policy, an ultra-secretive cabal that networks wealthy right-wing donors together with top conservative operatives to plan long-term movement strategy.

CNP members have included Tony Perkins, James Dobson, Grover Norquist, Tim LaHaye and Paul Weyrich. At a secret 2000 meeting of the CNP, George W. Bush promised to nominate only pro-life judges; in 2004, then-Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist told the group, "The destiny of the nation is on the shoulders of the conservative movement." This year, thanks to Sarah Palin's selection, the movement may have finally aligned itself behind the campaign of John McCain.

20. It's in my mind as a somewhat sarcastic quip.
She is an opinionated woman, and it could be a joke that she would get a congeniality award. At least among people who know her.

It might have been a media mistake, rather than hers.

We have bigger fish to fry with her.

I'm thinking she'll pull out, or they both will. NOTE: We'll be hurting then.

Her list of discovered lies is growing longer by the day.

And frankly, I'm amused to watch the melt down. It reinforces everything the Republican Party has shown itself to be these past couple decades. Liar, hypocrites, and willing to break laws to further their own agenda.

26. So what are you saying, one of her (or McCain's) operatives edited Wikipedia
the night before the announcement, and the Miss Congeniality thing wasn't a lie but a 'sarcastic quip'? An 'inside joke'?

Is THAT what you're saying?

34. It might have stemmed from a quip.
Not that it was quipped in writing. It might have then been the recollection of someone else. It might not have been her, herself who edited those lines prior to the announcement.

Again, her nickname was Sarah Barracuda. It rather much opposes a congenial image. It would fit a scenario of sarcasm. These people do not seem bright, and could mistake such a quip.

I'm just not ready to call it a lie. If you are, that's you. It seems untrue according to an article refering to the real winner per said article, Guin, who's referenced wiki entry wiki, google, and I could not find.

36. So, apparently an overenthusiastic McCain supporter" rewrote the Wiki article
But as an astute commenter on DailyKos points out:

'"YoungTrigg" is "just a volunteer" of the McCain campaign who has psychic abilities, it appears. How else would "YoungTrigg" know before even the media that McCain was selecting Palin as his running mate --the only reason one would have for editing her diary."

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/9/1/101230/4834/746/582005

Team McCain/Palin just keep piling on the lies. It's so amusing to watch. They're BOTH going to get hung out to dry.
