Police are arresting large groups of protesters today at different locations in St. Paul. At least twelve people were surrounded by police and detained from what looked like a sit-in at Shepard road.

As many as 50 people were arrested near East Seventh and Jackson streets since 5 p.m., including legal observers, street medics and Amy Goodman, host of the radio show 'Democracy NOW!' There was a large bus on site to haul the detainees away.

Amy is pretty fearless. And she's been swept up in raids like this before. They often attempt to take away her recording equipment.

Back in March of 2003, a group of famous women -- including authors Alice Walker and Maxine Hong Kingston -- kept vigil outside the White House (in protest of the imminent Iraq invasion) and were arrested. Goodman, who was covering the story for Democracy Now! was arrested as well.

Two days ago when police raided part of a St. Paul duplex where journalists were headquartered, Goodman pressed the police for details. When a cop apparently put his hand on her, she said, "Don't touch me. I'm a journalist here!" She's one courageous woman, who values and understands the First Amendment.

9. I just saw her interview Jon Stewart. If anybody knows how to get hold

of him, he might be able to use it for his show and it will go nation wide then. None of the M$M are covering the St. Paul/Minneapolis gestapo and they're preemptive tactics and arrests. It needs to get out there and on national news.
