http://eagleforumalaska.blogspot.com/2006/07/2006-gubernatorial-candidate.html11. Are you offended by the phrase “Under God” in the Pledge of Allegiance? Why or why not? SP: Not on your life. If it was good enough for the founding fathers, its good enough for me and I’ll fight in defense of our Pledge of Allegiance. SP is Sarah Palin, in case you haven't yet guessed.

1. Unfortunately, that isn't unusual at all. |
|
A LOT of people don't know that simple fact. And they often get furious when you point it out to them, like it's some kind of "subversive" lie or something.

It's part of the history of this country. "In God we trust" on the coins doesn't bother me either.
What does offend me is the Iraq war, a growing national debt, climate change, folks not getting health care, etc etc
I would rather hear these issues discussed.

She said, "If it was good enough for the founding fathers, its good enough for me."
The Pledge of Allegiance was written in 1892, when the Founding Fathers were long dead. ("Under God" was added in 1954.)

6. Agree. Under God added almost 200 years after the country's founding. |

The "under God" part was added the year McCain graduated from high school.

7. Given McCain's age, his high school days are certainly history. |

9. "UNDER GOD" was added in the 1950s by GOP nutjobs |
|
The Founding Fathers never heard of a pledge of allegiance. FDR lived and died with the pledge but never had UNDER GOD in it.
My older sister started school without UNDER GOD in the pledge, and soon saw it added.
I wonder if these phony patriots ever pondered what went wrong with their plan. Look at the history. The kids they MADE pledge "UNDER GOD" every day in school grew up to do what? Oh that's right, march in the streets, burn cars, fight police, oppose American imperialism, reject the racism and sexism of their parents, and do drugs like a biker gang.
Yeah, that worked, didn't it?!
It's a good thing they added UNDER GOD, ain't it?!
