The Republicans are making a big deal about things going relatively well in NO.

But the irony about that is that the fact that things have gone pretty well and all the local, state and federal agencies have operated effectively basically disproves what the Republicans think about government. Instead, it showed that government can do a good job when given the resources, and that *only* government has the capacity to deal in an organized way with a major disaster. Gustav showed that the Democrats' vision of the utility of government is the right one, and the Republicans' notion that government is bad and everything needs to be privatized is just stupid.

The Republicans are raving about what a great job these government agencies are doing, thereby -- without realizing it -- crapping all over their own ideology.

2. I don't know if anyone caught it but * our fearless leader

was at a command center and said the coordination between state Governers and the government were better...read between the lines...Katrina was political...LA had a Democratic Governer and he and his administration were unwilling to work with her. Now that they have a Repug governer things are going much better.
