Chris Matthews is slapping the shit out of Scarborough! I love it! |
|
Matthews keeps slamming Palin's anti-abortion stance in Scab's face, and Scab won't hear of it. It's a brave choice for her kid to have kept the baby, Matthews making the case that she's FORCE EVERYONE to keep their babies, and Scab just won't hear it -- "It's the state's choice!" It's a joy to watch, even if I hate Matthews almost as much as Scarborough.

No love lost between those two.
Joe seems to be working at pissing off every on air msnbc personality before the campaigns are over.

It was the first time I saw her exhibit anything like a spine (unless she was parroting whatever Joe was saying). She should stand up to Joe more often.

6. Joe (and all Pro-Lifers) don't get it. It's a fundamental right to control your body. |
|
Saying you don't want the federal government to make that decision, but leave it up to the states, is STILL saying you want the government to make that decision.
Whether it's the State Legislature of a state that ends up making the "decision" for people, or a majority vote of the people of that state, doesn't matter. It's not the individual person making the decision. But it's a PERSONAL decision. It's inside someone's own BODY.
Joe seems to think passing it off as states rights makes it better. But there are plenty of times the states right argument has been used to support pretty horrendous things.
He also doesn't get the contradiction Chris was pointing out. Daughter aside, Palin is hard core anti-abortion in HER state, yet she had the right to make the CHOICE, in HER state, whether or not to have her Downs Syndrome baby because of Roe vs. Wade (which boils down to Supreme Court appointments, which boils down to FEDERAL elections).

9. I was glad to see Chris stand up to Joe |
|
on this subject. He is absolutely right. Palin wants to make abortion illegal in the state of Alaska under all circumstances even rape and incest. Her position will go with her into Washington which is why charlie Black said no to Joe Lieberman.

16. I wonder how she would feel if, |
|
Edited on Tue Sep-02-08 09:22 AM by Wilber_Stool
upon finding out she was to have a Downs Sin child, the state stepped in and said that she HAD to have an abortion, lest the child become a ward of the state and a burden on tax payers. There's still a eugenics streak in the republican party. This is the kind of thing that can result when you let the state control your body.

...all the usual RW cant about "intrusive government?"
I should probably pay closer attention but, y'know, it just struck me that I've never heard anyone attempt to reconcile supporting state control of reproductive decisions with supporting getting the government out of people's lives.
Out of curiosity, can anyone provide an example of how that reconciliation of two fundamentally opposed stances is accomplished by the average RWer?

20. Exactly... Her mother "Outed" her pregnancy... |
|
before the news cycle/ because of the news cycle. If anything this pregnancy message should be on Sarah Palin's ego and her willingness to drag her daughter through the 24 hour news vetting. She could have turned down the Vice Presidency if she really cared about her family.

17. When the Dufus-in-Chief was out strutting it up on the aircraft carrier, |
|
with the 'Mission Accomplished' sign and his flightsuit, Chris Matthews was saying stuff like 'God, isn't he, manly. You gotta admit he looks in charge.'
As of two years ago, he was still very much in the neocons camp, when it became obvious they were lying thugs, that's when he changed.

19. Here are the actual quotes.... |
|
sorry, I thought everyone knew that Chris fawned over B*sh.
MATTHEWS: What do you make of the actual visual that people will see on TV and probably, as you know, as well as I, will remember a lot longer than words spoken tonight? And that’s the president looking very much like a jet, you know, a high-flying jet star. A guy who is a jet pilot. Has been in the past when he was younger, obviously. What does that image mean to the American people, a guy who can actually get into a supersonic plane and actually fly in an unpressurized cabin like an actual jet pilot?
And this:
MATTHEWS: Let me ask you, Bob Dornan, you were a congressman all those years. Here’s a president who’s really nonverbal. He’s like Eisenhower. He looks great in a military uniform. He looks great in that cowboy costume he wears when he goes West. I remember him standing at that fence with Colin Powell. Was the best picture in the 2000 campaign?
And this:
MATTHEWS: The president there — look at this guy! We’re watching him. He looks like he flew the plane. He only flew it as a passenger, but he’s flown –
CADDELL: He looks like a fighter pilot.
MATTHEWS: He looks for real. What is it about the commander in chief role, the hat that he does wear, that makes him — I mean, he seems like — he didn’t fight in a war, but he looks like he does.

22. I am fortunate that I work in a very liberal workplace. |
|
Unfortunately, I have to be very careful about what stickers I put on my vehicle. It would be keyed or have a brick thrown thru the windows. On the plus side, I get great pleasure in getting folks to change their minds and vote for a democrat. The blatant racism is what hurts the most. There are many local fishing forums ( we love to fish) that I cant read because of that racism. One hopeful sign is that we elected a AA mayor here in Mobile. So, small changes feel great.

14. Chris had interesting comment during Olberman's program |
|
Last night, Chris talked about how the election is the MOST IMPORTANT story going on at this time, even more important than the hurricane. And yet, we have full coverage of Gustav and barely any mention of the other, far more important things, that are going on in this country (no disrespect intended to the victims in the gulf). I agree with him. And I haven't agreed much with Chris matthews until recently.
Something seems to be going on behind the scenes here, but then again, maybe it's just me.
I suspect that the corporate bosses at NBC are pressuring them to favor the GOP story, distracting everyone with the hurricane, and Chris and Keith, being real journalists, are not wanting to go along.
thanks all!
