In a bit of fairness for John McCain
Though he's pandered to the religious right with his association with Hagee and Dobson, I never really considered McCain a part of the fundie wacko group who wanted to turn this country into a church state. Don't get me wrong, though, his policies are consistent with the rightwing, and he would be bad for this country.

However, we all know now, that McCain was pressured and browbeaten into choosing this woman and that he wanted to pick his friend Lieberman. I am sure he trusts Joe Lieberman more than he trusts the "leaders" of his own party.

Unfortunately for McCain, though, his leadership weakness is what shone through in the Palin pick. I think McCain is as surprised as we are in some of the things we're discovering about her, and he's probably wondering how in the hell he allowed Rove to control this mess.

I don't feel sorry for him, but I don't see his "maverick" personality anywhere in this campaign right now. He's lost all control of this campaign.

1. Don't fool yourself--McCain '08 is no longer McCain '00.
He's sold his soul to the very people he used to rail against for their intolerance.

3. McCain '00 wasn't even McCain '00.
Just a PR scam.

2. What kind of "maverick" lets others make his decisions for him?
A bush-like "maverick", that's what.

4. He was never a "maverick".
Always a useful stooge for the power elite.

Just another rethug, spoiled elite, screw up kid who never grew up. Like his hero, busholini.

5. The whole thing shows just how far McCain will go to be president
their is no depth too low that he won't stoop to.
In all fairness to McCain, he is the most power hungry, amoral person I have ever seen.

7. Huh?
So he just panders to the fundaloon dominionist theocrats, but he isn't really one himself? He isn't a fundie whacko, he just plays one while he is running for president?

I actually do not know at all what the decision process was for this selection. Unlike you I cannot see into McCain's brain. I do know that he made an incredibly unwise choice, and that this indicates to me and hopefully to the rest of the nation that his decision making equipment is not to be trusted.

8. McCain made a weak and hasty decision
that's all anyone needs to know about what a McCain presidency would be like.
And look at the result.. the GOP is in absolute turmoil. They seem to have
choked on their own chaos.
