4. To be fair

That probably does represent the percentage of GOP voters who are black, so it's appropriate representation.


My thinking goes like this.

We know Kerry got 90% of black vote.

Which means Republicans get 10% of it.

Blacks are 12-13% of population.

Which means 1.2% is black and votes Republican.

Which, assuming a fairly even 50-50 split that is normal in presidential elections, means that about 2.4% of Rep. voters are black.


FWIW the same math should go for Dems:

90% of 12% is 10.8%

Which means 21.6% of the Dem voters are black. I can't recall how many of our delegates wer black but if it's less than 21% then the Reps actually did a better job of fair representation of delegates. Of course if it's equal to that we did fine, and if it's more we were just folllowing affirmative action, so no worries.

Kinda paints a "big tent" comparison pretty well I think.
