My Take on Republican Magic - Their Spin Doctors |
|
I was thinking 'How do they do it' ..Put on a fake smile and argue with straight face that Sarah Palin is the more qualified that Obama and Biden put together AFTER the pregnancy debacle ..... If this had happened to us .. The right wing would be raining hellfire and we would be under our couches ....
I mean what is the secret?.. These guys are capable of defending a Heap of Horse Shit if that was to be their nominee for president --- And we look for silly things like facts.. What was I missing .. I mean we are smart ..Plenty of PhD's and College Grads and other 'sensible' people in our ranks ... Do they have some pixie dust that we dont..
Then I had a brainwave -- I realize that these people come from the same GENETIC STOCK that has over the centuries ignored all empirical evidence and continued with the Bible thumping ... The go on and on trying to 'save' people from their Lord's Wrath ..they can take insult after insult and still go on .....It is in their GENETIC MAKE UP ... The rational part of their brains must be seriously underdeveloped ... So it poses no problem to them while either taking an absolutely literal view of the Bible and using it to state that earth is 5000 years old ...Or... when using the cue cards from the Republican thugs ( Who really know what they are doing ).. and defending it to the hilt. I am coming to think that the republicans have an army of USEFUL IDIOTS that we Democrats do not.
Please tell me why is my hypothesis wrong... I like to think of myself as a rational human being who looks for things like causality and empirical evidence.. I would really love to know of better explanation for the behavioral difference between the Democrats and Republicans..

1. They control the media |
|
Also, Republicans in general are less questioning of authority than Democrats.

but how does that account for the different behavior?
Why are Republicans less questioning of authority?

4. There have been a couple of books written on this |
|
I think it's that people with an authoritarian mindset tend to vote Republican, rather than that voting Republican makes you authoritarian. I don't know why they tend to concentrate in certain areas ("the heartland"). My guess is that people from those areas with the smarts to question authority end up migrating to blue states at the earliest opportunity.

8. John Dean's Conservatives Without Conscience deals with it |
|
As does Whose Freedom? by George Lakoff. There is another one just called Authoritarian Personality, but I can't remember the author's name right now.

the 80s and 90s.
But...you are absolutely right about the GOP spokespeople and lawmakers - they LIED with more enthusiasm the last 2 elections to protect Bush than any Dem spokesperson or Dem lawmaker would tell the truth about Gore or Kerry.
Fortunately, a few sturdy Dems are making sure that doesn't happen to Obama.

7. The key is "useful idiots". |

As in an overwhelming amount of voters that share the same brain.
And again, that comes down to the bought-12-years-ago media. He who controls the message controls the people.
