Majority of Americans say okay for Israel to Attack Iran - Today’s Headlines 9/2/08

Dutch pull spies on Iran attack fears
The Dutch AIVD secret service has had an ultra-secret operation underway in Iran in recent years that was halted in connection with plans for a US attack on Iran… "The operation, described as extremely successful, was halted recently in connection with plans for an impending US air attack on Iran. Along with this, targets would also be bombed which were connected with the Dutch espionage action," writes the Netherlands' biggest newspaper.
Amazingly, 55% of Americans are okay with Israel attacking Iran. Don’t they realize that we’ll get drawn in if that happens?—Caro

1. But the oil companies have the final say, and they said no.
Iran announced they were privatizing their energy sector, and the very next day the U.S. had a mini-embassy in Tehran for the first time in 30 years.

Money trumps peace, but it trumps war, too. :hi:

2. Once again, a loaded question asked to stilt the reply
The question was "if attacked, should Israel ... "

And a normal response/reaction would be the opposite. It's a neurological tic not psychology.

Besides, we have no military to fight this with and we'd definitely be drawn in.

8. The question WAS NOT "if attacked, should Israel..."
From the link in the OP:

More support for an Iran strike than you probably thought
By Eric Fingerhut on Aug 28, 2008 in Democratic convention, Iran | ShareThis

The Israel Project released a poll this afternoon finding that 55 percent of Americans would approve of the “United States and its allies making targeted conventional military strikes against Iran’s nuclear weapons facilities” — a surprisingly high number considering the opposition generated by the war in Iraq.

At a press conference announcing the findings — which technically were 33 percent strongly approving and an additional 22 percent somewhat approving — pollster Frank Luntz suggested that the reason was simply that “Iran scares people.”

______

The question was about whether the US and its allies should attack Iran's nuclear weapons facilities (which no one is sure even exist).

9. The Israel Project is good at push polls
I've already stated what the question was. If you want to believe something else, so be it.

3. So They Can Do A Pre Emptive Strike These Days?
That is what pisses me off lately, I heard another person talking about this, and saying we should have bombed Iran a long time ago?

So what if another Country attacks Israel, because they have nucular weapons... isnt that the same thing as Israel pre emptively attacking another Country?
Or is it ok for Israel and the US to do this now?

:grr: :grr: :grr:

12. I WON'T EVEN BOTHER...
...on what I think of the legality of Israel even exisiting as a state in the first place, given its republican-party backed presence in a progressive arab region. ANY military involvement should take into consequences the reactions on the arab street with regard to democracy as a whole, and Israel is waaaaay beyond its rope in this regard.

If they set off the nukes you can rest assured that it is under direct orders of the republican party scumbag criminals in the white house. Iran has every right to defend itself from the republican bastards, and if Israel should do it when Barack is president, they WILL feel the pain. Of course, they won't; once we have REAL leadership in the white house, we can effectively create multi-lateral discussions with everyone in the region, with the eventual de-certification of Israel's military status as a main objective, along with the removal of all American troops.
