UPDATE 2 ....TURN ON MSNBC...KO BACK WITH MATTHEWS TONIGHT
Edited on Tue Sep-02-08 02:46 PM by unfrigginreal
Might MSNBC be having a change of heart over network star Keith Olbermann?

The Countdown host who's become the face (and programmer?) of MSNBC regularly anchored presidential primary debate coverage, which was once the territory not of pundits, but hard news men and women. Such a ratings draw in primetime, Olbermann then headed up Denver's broadcasts from the DNC, where he and Chris Matthews tag teamed lead coverage — and spearheaded a series of on-air dust ups with colleagues.

But this week, in St. Paul at the RNC, Olbermann is nowhere to be found. That's because he's been ordered to stay in New York, while Matthews and none other than Tucker Carlson — MSNBC's whipping boy — will lead coverage from the Republican convention; Morning Joe's Joe Scarborough will also broadcast on location.

and...

Anchor Movement: Network News to St. Paul, Keith Stays in NY

As insiders predicted last night in St. Paul, anchors are beginning the trip back from the Gulf Coast region to the RNC as coverage shifts away from Gustav.

The three evening news anchors, CBS' Katie Couric, ABC's Charlie Gibson and NBC's Brian Williams, will be back tonight broadcasting from St. Paul.

One person not returning from his Hurricane Gustav coverage location will be MSNBC's Keith Olbermann. Olbermann led coverage last night from New York, and will now co-anchor prime time convention coverage from MSNBC HQ with Chris Matthews at the RNC.

UPDATE

I'm not sure where they're getting information from but another poster says he'll be there. I hope so!

14. Yes, that's the way they did it last night, and I thought it worked out well.
Did it ever occur to you that Keith didn't WANT to go to the middle of the den of theives? I sure wouldn't want to! So far it's been a BIG NOTHING out there, and last I heard, the speeches tonight will be abreviated from their original versions.

Keith will still be on your TV and he has the added benefit of not having to deal with a bunch of whining, lying idiots!

15. I'm a KO fan,
but I thought his work at the DNC was just terrible. Wordy, irrelevant, self-indulgent, petulant, and, worst of all, uninteresting. Maybe he just didn't want to be there.

I watched him last night, from NY, and he was everything I've always liked about him. So, maybe he's just not cut out for the foolishness of covering political conventions.

Bull crap.. He did fine. The scumbag scarborough and tom brokeaw were horrible as usual.

That far right looney scarborough should have had his ass removed from the Democratic convention.

25. Bull crap?
Blow it out your blowhole, silly.. I thought his work was sub-par, and that's all there is to it. You have a different take on his performance, fine. But don't you dare start with vulgar characterizations because your opinion is different from mine.

I don't watch Scarborough and have no interest in him. You, on the other hand, have a lot to learn about civilized debate.

Can't have effective no-nonsense Dems at the Republican convention. Can't manufacture a bounce that way.

23. if he's not there - it's because they know more people will probably be watching MSNBC at any time
other than the DEM convention, all year, and they don't want KO telling the people who don't know a whole lot about the GOP criminals why they're so full of crap - MSNBC is NOT one of the major news networks who has to keep it on the good ship lollipop and only hint at controversies without barraging the politicians about it, it is a place, like Fox News, that you know you're going to get OPINION. KO's opinion needs heard by the masses, because he's smart, and mildly funny - something few are!

24. I just heard them mention that he'd be covering the convention
tonight.

Perhaps the OP info is old?

He was in NY covering the storm last night - but that could also be taken as having their strongest person covering the top story.
