Palin Children were told they were going to Celebrate their Parents Wedding Anniversary...
when they were flown to the announcement of McCain of her as McCain Veep. Apparently McCain wanted to keep it secret so the kids weren't told. I wonder how they felt when they found out they were going to be paraded in front of thousands of people...especially Bristol. That had to have been hard on her.

MSNBC's Norah O'Donnel was talking with a reporter (didn't catch his name) who revealed this.

4. They shoved the baby into Bristol's arms and covered her
abdomen with a giant blankie--that's how they prepared this kid for the media glare--and hoped no one would notice her. Really bad parenting, all the way around.

7. I saw that and it left me in tears
What the hell kind of mother does that to her child? Bristol is at a point where she needs her mother, probably more than at any other time in her life and this is what the bitch gives her? And what about the father of the baby and his family. No notice for them that they were about to be in the National Enquirer. I'm absolutely furious and frustrated that there isn't something more I can do than campaign against her.

BTW, I believe the reporter was a guy named Whitaker from the Washington Post.

12. That's been my talking point about this whole thing
What kind of a human being does that to their kid?

Look, lots and lots and lots of people have had "shotgun" weddings, including Saints Ronnie & Nancy and Obama's parents.

But it's downright mean to purposely do something that will put those kids in the limelight

15. Did you see Bristol trying to cover herself up with the baby blanket?
At 17 years old, most girls are pretty concerned with "looking fat", and there's Bristol being shoved into the spotlight of her mother's acceptance speech, her mother who clearly isn't thinking about her daughter's needs.

I really feel terrible for that poor girl.

10. Really this kid needs a little decency. Eviscerate her mother but please...
do it in a way that does not harm this girl. She has so much going on in her life right now and i worry about her well being. We HATE when the other side attacks innocents. This girl is an innocent.

No one here has had anything but sympathy for the horrible way her mother has treated her.

11. not the first time McCain tricks kids for poltical purposes.
CNN's Acosta smeared 16-year old McCain questioner as a "heckler"

Summary: On Ballot Bowl, Jim Acosta reported on an appearance by Sen. John McCain at his former high school in Virginia in which a student asked McCain to clarify why he was visiting the school if not for political reasons. Acosta claimed that the student "apparently ... started heckling the senator" and twice referred to her as a "heckler." In fact, the question came during a question-and-answer session, and, according to a transcript of the event, McCain called on the student.

'''

And there's a young lady right back behind you that also -- yes, ma'am?

Q I think, judging by the amount of press representatives here and also by the integration of your previous political endorsements in your earlier personal narrative, we can see that this isn't completely absent -- political motivation isn't completely absent, yet we were told that this isn't a political event. So what exactly is your purpose in being here? Not that I don't appreciate the opportunity, but I'd just like some clarification.

SEN. MCCAIN: I knew I should have cut this thing off. (Laughter.) This meeting is over. (Laughter.)

26. Re-glazing that glass ceiling
Geeze, what a lousy thing to spring on your kids. When I was 12 years old, my parents sat us all down to discuss the possibility of moving to a new town so my dad could buy a new car dealership! My dad was a freaking car salesman and had the sensitivity to take our feelings into consideration! And with all due respect to Dayton (where I had the best piece of salmon I've ever eaten, go figure) -- you don't really go there to celebrate your wedding anniversary -- unless maybe you're from Troy, OH. This was the best ruse the parents could come up with?

This woman is going to set back women in politics for a long time. She gives every misogynistic, neanderthal voter reason to say 'told ya so, a woman doesn't belong anywhere near the White House".

Geez, can you imagine what the kids were thinking? "I have a zit on my chin." "Ugh, I just started my period." (Obviously not Bristol.)

21. So apparently the kids were never consulted about the decision at all.
How totally unsurprising. They herd those kids around like cattle. And then add the boyfriend/father to the mix, and geez, what an embarassment.

I bet those parents have never talked to their children about anything in their entire lives, except maybe "accepting Jesus." It's probably a miracle the daughter hasn't been pregnant before this.

23. Holy Shit
When I decided to run for US Congress, my wife and I sat our 4 year old son in as simple terms as he could understand, what I was about to do and what was going to happen. Little trooper wanted to go over to the neighbors house and rip my opponents sign off of their side wall...had to tell him that we couldn't do that!

22. Of all the things I've heard about how she's handled things with her kids
this bothers me the most. How awful. I feel so bad for her poor kids. Imagine thinking you're on your way to celebrate your parents' anniversary celebration, and then, "Surprise, kids! Here's the whole nation, looking at you! Smile pretty for the camera!" Especially Bristol. I don't care what Palin's politics are, my opinion of her would have dropped to the bottom rung after hearing that. What a scumbag thing to do.
