Back to school was a bust this year |
|
Apparently company wide the overall view is that back to school sales were a failure this year. We have a TON of back to school product that no one is buying, and corporate wants halloween set up.... too bad all the floor space is still taken up by back to school product that didn't sell.
We still have two aisles full of swimming toys that have been clearance for over a month now and we can't set new product on those aisles because the product isn't moving even at big mark downs. The sad thing is we received "low levels" of the product to begin with.
I have been in retail for years and never have I seen so much product go clearance at once. Never have I seen so much product go clearance and not even sell to the point we can't set new product because so much floor space is dedicated to seasonal product that didn't sell.
I am just waiting to see how the fourth quarter goes. Somehow I have a feeling we are going to be loaded up with christmas trees, decorations, etc all the way up to March 2009 if the rate this seasonal merchandise is selling is any indication.....

1. I've purchased extra of back to school, so my kids can have |

what they need at home and extra for school. We're going out for more swimming stuff and bts clothing after I get over this flu.
But yes, retail must suck these days. Alot of people don't have an extra dime here in south Texas.
