OK, I'll go there. As a public speaker, Palin's squeaky, nasal voice drives me up the igloo!

Yeeikes.

Can any Republican who ever complained about Hillary not be turned into a pillar of salt at that chalk on the blackboard honk?

She needs a voice coach along with all the other coaching she's going to be knocking back the next few weeks.

Now excuse me, I have to go have my eardrums resurfaced.

Can't they find a republican with a decent speaking voice? Is there no such thing? The chimp can't read a teleprompter properly, McCain always sounds either stilted or oily, the wives sound as though they're somewhere else most of the time.......Lord and Lady.

39. Umm
She's not had enough vocal coaching, if she's had any. It is clear. Not just the delivery of the speech, but the actual use of her vocal tools is untrained.
Her manner of speech has a dialect that is familiar to many, but she is also thin of timber, nasal, unsupported, and delivery wise, sing song the live long. And remember, those that are familiar with a dialect can suss out the nuances better than those who are not, so 'familiar' is not always helpful when it comes to a stident and twitchy delivery.
If she was my candidate, I'd be calling up and offering help, she needs it. But it is sweet to see you rush to her side with bull on so many threads. Chivalry is not dead, it just smells that way!

Your are filled with misinformation. Every dime I have ever earned was earned using my speaking voice, and I am not young. Just saying.

Edited on Thu Sep-04-08 10:17 AM by RufusTFirefly
His voice has a medical explanation, at least.

That said, I think indictments of a person's voice or accent are out of line.

There's so much to be annoyed, depressed, and frightened of about Sarah Palin. Why must we wallow in the petty, tasteless stuff that has absolutely no bearing on her suitability to be Vice President? It is these kinds of shallow observations that are exactly the sort of things that have left us in the predicament we're in today. We elect stupid, telegenic people, who look and sound good.

Personally I'm not voting for her because I don't like her glasses.

40. Huh?
When talking about a person's delivery of a speech, it is out of line to discuss their voice? That is one of the most insipid things I have ever heard foisted by anyone. This is a thread about the speech delivery, not the best reasons to send her back to AK.
So her voice should be off limits, when discussing her speaking. You betcha!

45. Lol....jesus, how come we keep finding things about her that should be "off limits"?
We gotta attack her from any conceivable angle. Even stuff we might consider inane. Same with gramps.

Besides, the ability to speak is very important in a "leader". The last thing we need is Russia nuking North America because they can't stand her voice.

33. Ashamed of my gender
I might get blasted for this comment but I have nothing to lose. Her cattiness and pot shots at her opponent just prove the point of how "bitchy" and unprofessional women with no substance can be. Those characteristics are exactly why men call us bitches and is very unbecoming of any woman let alone one who wants the job of VP. It was not necessary. The speech reminded me of a bad SNL skit. There is no need for such sarcasm if you have something worthwhile to say.

That type of behavior doesn't help her already failing credibility and is one of the reasons why women aren't taken seriously. As a women and I was embarrassed and refuse to have her represent me and my needs in Washington. Stick to the issues and what your plans are to make it right - oh yea..you don't have a plan you do whatever Big Daddy McShame does.

It was sickening. So to every woman out there...GO VOTE!

Even in your own post there's nothing about her being a woman that's a problem. It's that she's a vacuous twit with no substance or intellecually gravity with a bad attitude.
