Palin budget cuts dismay legislators Governor trims $3.2 million from Juneau projects
I was looking through the reader comments at CNN and saw this...

Palin mentions in her speech that she had a message for families with Special Needs children...that they will have an advocate if she and McCain are elected. Sounds good but Palin cut funding for a project for a non profit I work for that serves Special Needs children and adults. This organization is less than a 7 minute walk from the Governors mansion here in Juneau Alaska. The organization is called REACH Inc. or REACHAK.ORG. Here is the link listed below:

That led to the following...

Raising Elton's ire: Cutting $100,000 for improvement to Juneau's Paul Emerson Park, while funding a $630,00 kitchen for a Wasilla sports complex. Cutting $100,000 for a new ball field in the Mendenhall Valley, while spending $100,000 for bleachers in Palmer.

Kerttula called the cuts "a little surprising, a little disappointing."

Numerous Juneau projects were either reduced or cut entirely.

Doll said she was particularly disappointed that REACH's Canvas Art Studio electrical upgrades were eliminated. That project has "inestimable value for our people with special needs," she said.
