1. Nothing in it surprised me at all
Nearly every word of it has been said before.

she has all the class and style of (metaphor lacking). She has no class or style. She was rude, grating, and a royal beeotch on top of everything else

7. How about...
...she has all the class and style of a drunk stumbling into an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting with an open bottle of Jack Daniels, asking if anyone needs a ride home?

3. the most surprising part?
she managed to pull off a couple jokes.

the pitbull joke actually cracked me up, other than that, her speech was pedestrian at best.

5. I didn't watch it but...
...as I was getting ready for work this morning, I heard a little bit of it on the TV that was on in another room. Her sneer and snarl came through pretty clearly without me even seeing it. The news program that I had on played the bit about what is Obama going to do "after he's finished parting the waters" and the other bit about the difference between a hockey mom and a pit bull. Ugh.

18. I didn't watch it, I heard it on the radio
the entire speech. the content and tone was condescending, like she was speaking of people who are contemptible and far beneath her. Granted I am a biased listener. But I could actually hear the sneer and snarl through the speakers of my radio.

My honest opinion here, and it may sound sexist and for that I apologize. I don't think this speech will go over well with people not tuned into politics as you and I are. Women spewing this much vitriol and hate, america isn't ready for that. They want a Mary Poppins, who can dish out the cold hard facts with a spoonful of sugar. She came across as a shrew. Mean spirited, hateful shrew.

Now for her speaking ability, its good. She does speak well before a crowd, and is able to deliver a speech. Good for us the content was nasty, and her mean spiritedness came through.

Hope or Hate. Which one will those not tuned into politics choose?

6. My wife commented on the grimace/snarl look at the end of each "point"
Whenever she made what for her was a 'point' she got this look on her face that was sort of a cross between a sneer and a snarl or maybe just a look of self-centered admiration that she had just said something outlandish and got away with it. I couldn't stand her voice myself. Fingernails on chalkboards as far as I was concerned.

8. The snarling pugnaciousness was an overriding
aspect of the speech for me. It was very off-putting for me - of course the drooling foot-stompers in the audience secreted fecal-laced blood at all the appropriate times, but the whole sneering, snarling, chin-jutting thing was just icky...

:)

10. i was in the couldn't watch camp
but i just heard some of it. nails on a blackboard. yet the commentary surrounding the soundbites was all positive. i feel like i'm watching the whole fucking country go over a cliff and the people are applauding it as if it's a good thing. it's so sad. OBAMA! must be elected (the easy part imo), and once elected, he must be allowed to serve. then MAYBE we get our country back. it's a big maybe, but i'll take it 'cause it's all i got.

Hearing about it is bad enough. I pray that there are more intelligent voters than stupid ones this election.

13. What person with a brain would willingly watch that piece of shit spew her filth? From the comments
of those who did, there was nothing of substance.

Now, whether it was successful in stoking the fires of hatred within the heart of repukes is another matter. Given their willingness to suspend reality to support their fascist policies, it probably was effective in feeding the monster.

14. "Leave me alone"
All in all, it was your basic "Leave me and my family alone" speech. She didn't touch on anything about her and McSame's policies. It was just a bunch of heavy mud slinging.

19. All she did was read what Bush wrote. It was his speechwriter's text.
She is just the sportscaster. Bush is still doing the thinking, oxymoranic as that may be.

23. It wasn't as bad as it could be, I guess
I thought she did pretty well on her speech -- granted I was tired and kept dozing off. But considering she's not ready for the gig and HAS to be completely overwhelmed right now since it came at such a surprise last Thursday night (by most accounts), I thought she did a good job.

I didn't feel she wrote it, which disappointed me. I just heard "soundbyte, applause, soundbyte, applause." No substance. I think as a writer and a former broadcast journalist (which is what she was doing - sports reporting - while Obama was attempting to help the poor and jobless on Chicago's South Side, something we need to keep bringing up) but I think she would have written and delivered a more fluid speech on her own. I think her handlers were nervous because even in the GOP she's kinda a non-entity or an unknown and wouldn't let her ride her own donkey -- or elephant, as it were.

That said, she and her beliefs scare the living shit out of me. I think she wants to take women back 30-50 years. It's bad enough coming from a man - it's absolutely terrifying from a woman.

And she has great skin. LOL. My hub says I never have anything positive to say about Repubs.

Oh, and her shoes were killer. There. Two nice things.
