Why Biden Is Right That Palin's Family is Off Limits
Simple - because the Rs want it to be all about the mean and nasty media/Dems attacking her family. The Rs want to make it all about the media being "unfair" to Palin...which they hope, by extension, means being unfair to McCain...which, by further extension, means being "unfair" to 8 years of bushco.

The Ds are correct to make the issue about Palin about the ISSUES, not her family. Why? Two reasons:

1. The Ds win on every issue, hands down.

2. The blogosphere will continue to go after the family/corruption/hypocrisy issues on Palin, and much of it will find its way into the MSM. By averring that "family" issues are off-limits, the Ds insulate themselves from the R charges of being "unfair," while the Rs harping on the media being unfair to them has the double edge of insulating the Ds from similar media attacks against them initiated by RW operatives.

Obama/Biden can ride above the fray while the "new media" does the dirty work.

It's a win-win.

1. Yeah, I agree that I don't want Obama or Biden anywhere near that stuff.
Let's leave it to the NE who will feed it to the MSM. :)

2. I think what most are missing in Bidens comments was
......he didnt say Sarah was off limits.

He's getting ready to unload on her nonesense as soon as the RNC lovefest is over.

4. Biden wisely refused to reveal his anti-Palin strategy to Lauer
this am on Today. Lauer asked him specifically how he was going to counter Palin and Joe said "I'm not going to tell you that."

Excellent. Why show your hand to Rove weeks in advance of the VP debate?

6. why should she be off limits?
She's the candidate for vice-president. She is - and rightly should be - subject to the same scrutinies and criticism of her politics and actions that Biden is, and Edwards/Lieberman/Gore/Cheney/Quayle before her.

Pound her on the facts, Joe, and don't hold back. I expect to see tears at some point (which is when I want Hillary to step in with an oh, poor baby, I know what it's like, they've been doing this to me since 1992 speech, just dripping with sympathy and subtle sarcasm) and claims that mean Joe's picking on her. I want Biden to push Palin so hard that McCain figuratively explodes and does something even more stupid.

3. The Reptilicans go into organizing workshops and stress 3 things
Act like them, talk like them (meaning us), use anything against them and when they do the same against you
act outraged and hide behind safe institutions (family, church)

When the Palins of the world lay off destroying our civil rights and shipping my nephew and grandnephew off
to Iraq, then I'll consider laying off their families.

Children are off-limits to me -- adult children are not if they are used as political props. Their mom
put them in that position.

5. I agree with you, and as YOU are making your comments as part
of a new media blog, keep up the good work.

But my point is that Obama/Biden need not get their hands dirty when we're around to do the heavy lifting for them.
