The fundamental difference between their vision and ours
Edited on Thu Sep-04-08 01:36 PM by undeterred
is selfishness vs. the common good. They can get excited about their own families and their own children, but they don't give a damn about the abstract children of the future or anybody elses children. They can't imagine being in need, so "the homeless" are somebody elses problem, not somebody they could be.

And even when she has a pregnant teenager and a special needs baby, she still doesn't get it.

The greatest irony is using the religious vision of a selfless Christ to prop up all this selfishness. The story of Jesus really is that of someone who came into this world with nothing and gave all he had and left with nothing. He was utterly unselfish and non-materialistic. Yet somehow the gospel has been totally inverted to be all about me, me, me, mine, mine, mine, judging you and yours.

Then theres the speaking in tongues, the end times, all the other weird and crazy stuff from 2000 years ago that makes no sense. They have to pick up on THAT stuff instead of love your neighbor and care for the poor, which is so perfectly clear and you don't have to believe in God to follow it.

1. These are biblibcal principles:
"Am I my brother's keeper?"

"Do unto others before they have a chance to do unto you."

"Trespass not against the free market."

2. Also
Drill, baby, Drill

Make fun of those who become community organizers instead of pursuing a profitable career.

Tax incentives are the answer.

3. Amen...
From each according to his ability. And don't forget it.

There's a street in my neighborhood that has probably seventy families here "unofficially" from south of the border. Cindy's earrings could keep them in healthcare for a year. I say hand 'em over, you apparently had the ability to earn 'em and these folks have the need. Go earn some more.

4. "How will this help my fellow Americans?" vs "How will this MAKE ME RICH??"
There's your difference.

5. I have a Republican friend who told me
that he honestly did not care about global warming although he finally admitted something was happening. He just said, as long as everything was still there for him he didn't care. He just thought the Republican party was better for families and children. This was a never married single man.

I said, "Let me get this straight. You care about children, but you don't care if they can breathe?"

And he laughed. They really don't put it all together. The environment will still be "there" in my lifetime. But the next generation is going to say "What the hell were they thinking?" And it isn't like the Republican party gives a hoot what we are leaving for future generations.
