DU Tech Question

I am the OP and I can not respond to anyone in this thread nor can I even kick this thread. Also, there was this link to a related thread posted in my thread by DUer whrab: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=6889214&mesg_id=6889214 I am having the same problem there as well, (unable to post a response or even recommend it for that matter).


The normal icons at a bottom of an OP look like this:
Alert | Hide Thread | Recommend (0 votes) Printer Friendly | Permalink | Reply | Top

Instead in both my OP and in whrab's OP the icons at the bottom of the page look like:
Add to my Journal.........................Printer Friendly | Permalink |........| Top

Note the missing icons: Alert, Hide Thread, Recommend, Printer Friendly, and Reply.
This phenomenon occurred within a few hours of my posting the OP, not days. I am now wondering if perhaps I have broken a rule of some sort and BOTH whrab's and my OPs have been removed.

Will someone please clear this mystery up for me?

1. It is archived. Look at the red words at the upper right.

After some time without responses, threads get archived.

5. OK archived...WHY within a few hours of my posting?

It was within hours, NOT days that they got archived. Is it normal that DUers are unable to add responses to posts which are a mere 2-3 days old?

Both of them are from a couple of days ago, and they've fallen off the active pages.

I guess it's to do with the sheer number of posts in General Discussion: Presidential. If it had been in the Music Appreciation group would probably have been there forever - quite rightly so....lol.

7. Ok, I am hearing ARCHIVED but

why can I not even respond to DUers in the thread? This phenomenon took place within hours not days...not donning a tinfoil hat here but being unable to respond to a two day old thread seems...well damned odd.

its archived. Means its totally inaccessible other than for viewing - guess so anyway.

I'm guessing so too at this point. GDP, where that was posted, was moving pretty fast yesterday...my topic must have raced right through to fall off within hours! (Well it was an impressively unimportant topic anyway so I guess this theory makes sense).

Thank you to all who helped clear this up for me. I've never had a topic race through to archival status within hours like that before. When my OP was posted the GDP was moving at a ferocious pace so it is perfectly understandable to me now what happened. Thank you all
