Another 9-11 victim-Hero Janitor writes suicide note on WH Stationery
After Kenny Johannemann shot himself, relatives found a letter on White House stationery in the one-room apartment he shared only with his cat.

October 31, 2001
Dear Kenny,

We send you our heartfelt thanks and the thanks of a grateful Nation for your selfless efforts in responding to the tragic events of Sept. 11. Your actions in the midst of this national tragedy were truly heroic. Your saving a man who was on fire by dragging him out of an elevator and getting him to an ambulance reflected the best of the American spirit.

Sincerely,

George Bush

Laura Bush

Johannemann was a part-time janitor assigned to clean rest rooms in the north tower on 9/11 and was, indeed, credited with saving a man.

His family says that day changed him, that he became withdrawn and began drinking heavily, falling in and out of work.

Twelve days before the seventh anniversary of the day he saved a life, Johannemann took his own.

Sad. I hope you have finally found peace Kenny.

5. His cousin took the cat.
They said in the article, the cat was trembling when the cousin arrived to pick him up.

23. Thanks, I missed that
I don't know how much cats understand about death specifically, but I do know they perceive and mourn loss. I hope the poor creature recovers.

24. Yes. When my mother-in-law died, our cat started sitting on my husband's shoulder
every night while my husband read before going to sleep. It was like he knew he was sad and this was his way of comforting him.

3. MIHOP!
Only when the truly guilty are brought to justice, will our country be whole again.

RIP, Kenny. You were a hero, I'm sorry it was such a heavy burden.

19. Don't ruin a good country by sticking you head in the sand.
There has never been a true reckoning of 911.

Until there is, the power elite will continue to operate with impunity.

The most ludicrous conspiracy theory is that a bunch of untrained pilots with box cutters were able to evade the most comprehensive air defense system every conceived.

Tragic. So sad. The article also says the police called all the numbers in his cell phone and no one had anything bad to say about this man.

We just don't take care of each other. So sad - a young, courageous life apparently ended because of a lack of funds to pay his rent.

16. What a nice face
I am sobbing now over the saddest note I have ever read. RIP Kenny. I bet you were a nice person even when you were drinking. How sad that people turned their backs on him. How sad that he was getting evicted. How sad that he lost all hope. Suicide is just the worst.

18. Bushs got a tax cut and Kenny gets to lose mental health care.
Can't keep a job, can't keep up with health care payments as I see it.

Trouble is that one of these persons might be someone who will save your life someday.

Actually, the tax cut does not correspond to the health care situation. Instead, we pay twice as much per capita to receive health care that covers only about 80%, is not transportable, and is TWICE AS EXPENSIVE as countries with 100% coverage. And ours is getting more expensive and less good.

Bush gets money to be elected from companies making money on our overpaying and underproviding health insurance companies. So, he gets his tax cut, paid for with the lives of people like Kenny.

It stinks. He stinks.
