Mr Smith goes to Washington- with his golf bag and golden clubs
My GOPosse Senator Gordon Smith is in a tight race with the speaker of the state house. One of the most interesting things to come to light is that ol' Gordy bought a set of four golf clubs for $1.25 million.uh-huh, you read that correctly ladies and gentlemen, one and a quarter really large. Granted, one of the clubs did supposedly belong to some olde Scottish king, but in a state(OR) where the recession is hitting particularly hard and we rank pretty high in the food insecure level or whatever the ridiculous official bushspeak is for folks that are on the edge of going hungry. Now I got nothing against wealthy folks and Mr Smith should be free to spend his own money however he wishes. But don't go t be so enamored of putting that ball into the hole that you have a handicap of 8.2 and are wiling to spend that kinda dough on bragging rights and then attempt to sell yourself as a hardworking guy who's in touch with the common man and has the interests of the middle class at heart. Just for the record, My Mr Smith bears absolutely no resemblance physically or ideologically with the Mr Smith of the movie. And mores the pity.
