Well, at Work Everyone has been Trashing Palin and McSame... |
|
Edited on Fri Sep-05-08 10:02 PM by fascisthunter
My partner claims the same thing where she works. People are very open and vocal about it too... If there are McSame and Cheerleader fans at my work, I'd say they were keeping to themselves. It's been fun being speaking openly about politics without fearing the idea that one of your own colleagues might get insulted or at least annoyed. I really missed this during the last two presidential elections at the last place of employment that I had to endure. I realize experience is not the same for everyone, but I do sense it is more that way, then the opposite; too many I have conversed with recently, claim the same; too many who either seem annoyed, scared, embarrassed or just amused.
Also, a family friend of my partner, who is a right winger is actually scared of Palin. He thinks he'll be sitting this one out...
I really think it's going to backfire. They may shore up a very extremist minority of this country, but will turn off everyone else. In the end, it won't be as close as those in the media claim it will be.
My prediction...
Religned soaly on predictions wont do any good though, so work to get Obama elected in what ever way you can. We must not just win, we must turn the right wing into mush to place on a platter for America to see. Then we get change....
Whoops... good night!

2. Good to hear from the left "east" coast. |
|
Yesterday I went to a major office building in downtown Dallas. (We have tons of them.) I had to check in with security to be allowed up. One of the the people behind the roundish desk, a white young man security bot asked if I had watched Palin's speech. Just making conversation I suppose. I said "No, I decided to read a book." The truth.
He proceeded to tell me how she had really gone after Obama. He looked pleased. It was early in the morning (when I'm not the sharpest) but all I could respond was, "She'll get hers." And probably mumbled about she was spouting lies.
When I finally got up to the room I was supposed to be working in, the older men (mostly lawyers) in there (my age) asked each other about what they thought about watching the RNC the night before. They all thought it was good. !
Dallas county is turning blue, and I would love to get this state in Obama's column, but we have a lot of education to do.
I hope the trend you see is right. But yesterday bummed me out a whole bunch.
G'night to you too...Keep up the fight!

3. My husband goes to a senior center |
|
where the Dems used to be polite and not discuss politics even when goaded by Repubs
But yesterday this guy asked my husband to defend Obama's seal on his airplane.
My husband blasted the guy, "Why are you bringing up nonsense? What is your guy going to do about the economy? What is your guy going to do about that war (my husband was in combat in Korea as a Navy fighter pilot)? When is he going to stop the killing?"
The Repub answered, "Those are fighting words."
My husband challenged, "So?!"
My husband's health isn't good at all, but if the other senior had wanted to fight, my husband would have won by sheer force of will.

6. Later the guy told my husband that he didn't think |
|
I would have been so forceful.
My husband answered, "She would have been just as forceful as I was IN SPADES."
And it's true.
