1. It's been raining here
in Alexandria, VA for the past five hours. Getting heavier. No wind, though.

5. It hasn't made landfall yet. We're just getting the outer bands at this point.
Check out this projected map from cnn.com -- I'm surprised it's so far inland over NC. Are you in its path?

13. If you look here,
http://hurricane.accuweather.com/hurricane/satellite.asp?region=car&anim=1&type=ei&basin=atlantic

it looks like it made landfall earlier this evening at the Georgia/South Carolina border. It's not gone very far inland, though.

Here in the DC area, we're far enough inland just to be affected by bands, but, man, that's a big storm, for us to be getting rained on this far north.

31. As of the midnight update, they're anticipating landfall at
the NC/SC state boarder between 4-5 a.m.

They said the good new is, after the center of it passes, there isn't much on the back side to worry about.

Are they giving warnings for DC at all?

43. At 9 a.m., it's dark as night here,
raining like mad. Visibility is 'way down. It's mid-seventies, really nice.

We're under a flood watch and a tornado warning has been issued.

I got four different kinds of ice cream, four different kinds of cookies, and a "House" marathon just started on WUSA-TV.

This is the life.............................

45. By now (2:30) I'm guessing it's out of your area.
Here, I didn't hear anything - slept right through, but apparently there's some flooding in Raleigh and some trees down, etc. All in all, not all that disastrous.

How is it up there now?

47. Still raining, still gray,
but not anything like it was at 9 a.m. No wind, and the tornado watches are down.

There is, though, a big flood warning for the Potomac, in force until late today.

It turned out to be just a rainstorm, really. Hanna broke up really fast when she hit land, and we got lucky. I wonder what NY and New England are getting?

it's suppose to go over most of North and South Carolina. Hopefully it will just be a little rain and that's it.

11. Yeah, it looks like it might be a pretty wide swath --
but I've been on the outer parts of it before. It's windy, some branches down, but really not bad. I think all in all we'll be pretty good, except down by the NC/SC state line, where I think it's going to make landfall.

We're just west of Baltimore and the tropical storm warning's western edge is about 5 miles east of us.

It has been raining here for a few hours ..... light and no wind yet.

8. I'm in Wilmington.
The rain is heavy at times, coming in bands, not much wind yet. I used to live on the ocean, I loved to watch the ocean "boil" during these storms.

18. I think you're getting something because the last time I looked, I caught
the end of a bit Mike what's-his-name was doing and Durham was one of the places highlighted.

I'm hearing rumbling -- not quite like thunder, so I'm wondering if it's wind. If I hoisted my butt off this chair and walked three feet to the window I could find out. Haven't heard my garbage cans fall over, though, so I'll just stay seated a little while longer.

Hearing lots of rain, by the way.

34. I just heard the tail end (again) of them announcing that we'll be
having winds into the early afternoon, and Durham was mentioned.

Landfall expected between 4-5 am, at the state line between SC/NC.

I hope I wake up to hear/see it. I LOVE storms!

I knew I should have waited but the spiders and the grasshoppers were too much to keep putting up with.

Everytime I went outside the grasshoppers attacked, it was wicked.

41. I don't know where the little nasty bastards came from but they
are all over the place. The water came up in my backyard about 20 feet from my pilings, neighbors said we had white caps in the yard and a good many lost sections of their piers, the surge did come up, it just didn't make it into any houses around here. Since I built on 10 ft pilings, I was high and dry.

When the water receded we had mounds of debris at the water line, sea oats and twisted bay grass and limbs and drift wood and plastic bottles and just nasty icky stuff - the mounds were loaded with spiders and fire ants and grasshoppers, tons and tons of grasshoppers. I am hoping that having the stuff hauled to the street for pick up will make the damned things find some place to happen besides my porches.

thanks for caring so

32. Far northern Oregon had a few
The really big floods were a decade ago in 1996, but we usually get at least some flooding every two or three years.

The big story this year was late-season cold. Lake Wallowa in NE Oregon didn't thaw until almost May.

windy day as we get the far western edge of Hanna, it was cloudy earlier.....and not one damn drop of rain. Arrrrrggggghhhhhhhhh!!!! The drought in western NC is worse than the rest of the state and we get nothing. Meanwhile, other areas (foreign and domestic) are flooding with all of the storms. Feast or famine. Hope all Hanna has hit don't get flooding and do get needed rain......would you all stand outside and blow west?
