Our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan don't wear the personal armor displayed by the Police State in what were the once very hospitable twin cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul.
Why's that?
They've got it. They're wearing it. So, how'd that happen? Who paid for this insane parade of macho costumery?
Or is it a big show designed at bigtime intimidation? Think of the Star Wars movie. Think black. Add shin guards. Think no badges or name labels. Why's that?
Can our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan cover their ID tags on their uniforms?
Why not?
But cops in the twin cities need to be anonymous? Why's that?
Can anybody smell big lawsuits resulting in megajudgments on any and all agencies involved?
I've read that the Republican Party is supposed to cover the first ten million dollars in judgments.
From what I saw, ten mil ain't gonna do it. Hello, Minnesota taxpayers!
I'm so damned old that I remember cop cars with "To Protect and Serve" emblazoned on the doors.
What I want to know is just who/what is being protected and who/what is being served.
Amy Goodman ( www.democracynow.org) has tried to tell the story as have others. Like
http://www.theuptake.org/To me, THE story of the Republicon National Convention is the Minnesota Tourist Council's worst possible nightmare.
And it really happened. I just pinched myself. Welcome to Amerika.
