Sarah Palin Salutes America's Librarians

This needs to be sent to every library. Posters and buttons need to be made for

Banned Books Week. I think making librarians mad was a bigger mistake than

picking on community organizers. Let them get online digging dirt.

1. Good idea but it needs to be made more clear who "she" is.
Some uninformed people could look at the poster and assume it's the not-particularly-threatening-looking Palin talking about some other unspecified person who wants to do the banning.

5. Of all the reasons I have for hating Palin, this one hits closest to home
I am a proud librarian and ALA member. I spend my days promoting and providing information access. When someone even suggests banning books, my inner alarm goes off. As much as I already disliked her, this particular act made it personal. I officially knew that this woman was against everything I believe in and stand for. While I would not be able to put that poster in my library (it's in a high school) I would happily wear 10 buttons!!! Oh, and a bumper sticker would be great too!

The role of libraries and librarians in our society is so important. Kurt Vonnegut said it well:

"I want to congratulate librarians, not famous for their physical strength or their powerful political connections or their great wealth, who, all over this country, have staunchly resisted anti-democratic bullies who have tried to remove certain books from their shelves, and have refused to reveal to thought police the names of persons who have checked out those titles.
So the America I loved still exists, if not in the White House or the Supreme Court or the Senate or the House of Representatives or the media. The America I love still exists at the front desks of our public libraries."

4. She looks like she's channeling Evita Peron!

Come to think of it, that's probably one of her role models.

8. Thanks!
I can kinda do it, but I don't want to spend all night
when there is so much talent here. Plus mine would be a mess.
