Palin's Churches and the Third Wave

http://www.talk2action.org/story/2008/9/5/03830/11602

Part Two

This posting documents the extensive involvement of several of Sarah Palin's churches in the Third Wave Movement, also known as the New Apostolic Reformation, Joel's Army, and Manifest Sons of God. Journalists, bloggers, and others who wish to make use of this information are advised to read the preceding post, Part One in order to understand this movement in context of its history and theology. This movement is cross-denominational and there is no specific denomination that completely embraces it. It has been condemned by the General Council of the Assemblies of God since 1949. Please read the background information first if you do not have previous knowledge about the Third Wave Movement and an understanding of its relationship to Pentecostalism, Fundamentalism, and the larger body of Evangelicalism.

Again, if you are not familiar with the Third Wave, please take time to read this summary in Part One. However, if you are someone who can readily identify Todd Bentley, and know why he is in trouble, you have passed the test. Continue reading.

3. Will Sarah tolerate non-Christian religions?
From http://ag.org/top/Beliefs/gendoct_16_religions.cfm

Why is it so urgent to insist on the unique claims of Jesus Christ? One may illustrate this by asking, "Why is it urgent to call the fire department if one’s neighbor’s house is on fire–and to warn the neighbors to get out of the burning dwelling?" Of course the answer is obvious. If we don’t warn them, they will perish. Likewise, the Bible is clear in its insistence on belief in the Lord Jesus Christ as the only way for sinners to get right with God and to be ready for heaven. To tolerate non-Christian alternative views is to deny to masses of people the only way of salvation, for without Christ they will perish.

I'd read some of the other articles about Dominionism on Talk To Action, but hadn't gotten to this one yet. Part one of this article is also a must read; it gives very good background information.

7. That is an Outstanding Article
I only knew about the Calvinist version of dominionism. As the article says, the interweaving threads within Pentecostalism are almost unknown even within the church, yet they may have as many as 100 million adherents worldwide.

Who knows what Palin herself believes? In any case, this has got to be an issue. It is deeply weird, even for people who come from churches where speaking in tongues is a weekly occurrence.

And remember, the Assemblies of God have condemned the Third Wave, Latter Rain, and Joel's Army movements. They are allies, not enemies.

8. My favorite topic....with Bentley videos and pictures.
Right Wing Watch: Joel's Army, The Call, Todd Bentley are "Arming for Armageddon"

And more of that bunch:

Local revival with faith healer still drawing criticism, this time from a psychotherapist.

And more.

He was drawing thousands every night in Lakeland. His past and his affairs caught up with him....he had to leave.
