rec'd email from relative about obama (abortion) and this is my response
This relative is very rw (xtain) who lost a child several years ago to leukemia (has embraced religion, a cult, for solace)

The email was a youtube video about live birth abortion which I did not watch and will not post a link here

But this is my response

This is in response to your mass email

I am voting for Obama because I believe he is best for this country

I am against war because it is killing
I find it an oxymoron when people say they are pro-life but vote for a party (republican) that is pro-war
This party (republican) has killed real human beings, other peoples children, brothers, sisters, mothers and fathers.
This same party believes in the death penalty (republican) which is also killing and another oxymoron
The republican party allowed people to die in Katrina aftermath and prevented help and water to the people there.
The republican party is bombing, killing, and wasting a lot of money fighting in a country that had nothing to do with 911
while funding and giving weapons of mass destruction to the country that did have something to do with 911 (Saudi Arabia)
The Republican party flew the hijackers family out of the usa while other planes were grounded instead of fining ways to get information about their family member's activities and whereabouts.
The republican party kills and likes doing it.

Democrats and the democratic party are the only party who are for the people, men, women, and children's equal rights and equal pay.
They are the only party that has done something for the poor
I believe a women should have a right to choose what she does with her body and do not believe the government should make laws about what she can do with her body if impregnated.

1. My standard response
to people who are anti-choice:

"If you don't believe in abortion, don't have one."

3. I'm afraid what they hear is
"If you don't believe in murder, don't kill anyone."

10. Mine too.
Once it reduced a 12 year old conservative jerk (I have NEVER disliked a child so much) to sputtering and then silence.

11. thanks I used part of your answer and someone elses sent another email
Barack Obama wants to reduce abortions too. He strongly believes that the best way to reduce abortions is to reduce the number of unplanned pregnancies. This means supporting comprehensive sex education. Abstinence only does not work. Even nice girls from good families (with parents who reinforce the "wait until marriage" message) can make a mistake.

The next step is making sure a pregnant woman feels she has the support she needs to carry or keep the child. Not every woman is going to get this from her family and in some cases the father of the child is unable or unwilling to help. Yet, Republicans often want to cut funding to programs that provide all manner of public assistance to women in tough situations: shelters for unwed teenage mothers, nutritional programs, health care, etc. Republicans opposed FMLA (Family Medical Leave Act) from the beginning. They tried to scimp on the Childrens Health Insurance Program.

If you don't believe in abortion, don't have one

12. Good for you!
The thing to remember when dealing with these people is that NO ONE IS PRO-ABORTION.

They'd like to paint us as exactly that, but, like all things Republican, it's incorrect. We are PRO-CHOICE. It's that basic and that simple. They are ANTI-CHOICE.

Never, ever forget that. It takes all their huffing and puffing away.

Well done!

2. I point out that the number of abortions went up during the boosh years
& I ask, "If you are truly against abortion, I would think you would want to vote for the party that actually decreases the number of them, not the party that uses the issue to garner votes."

7. thank you - I copied and pasted your words and sent a second email
I know people like this can not hear unless it supports their belief system -

But your words tell more behind the reasoning which I also know they do not do or hear but it is out there in the universe now

8. I am actually pro-choice and pro obama -
I believe a women should have the right to choose. I would not chose abortion for myself but I don't believe I have a right to make that decision for someone else.
