Source Of Fake Fox Flag Story Is Carl Cameron!
McCain Plays the Cameron Card

According to a article just out from Huffington Post, the story about flags from the Democratic National Convention being thrown away is simply false. The story was jumped on and apparently authored by the McCain campaign. But the real tell is down in the Huffpo piece where it traces the story to none other than Fox News' Carl Cameron.

Longtime readers of TPM will remember that back in October 2004 this site caught Cameron publishing a series of fabricated quotes attributed to John Kerry on the front page of the Fox News website.

After I placed a series of calls to Fox News inquiring about the story, the story was eventually pulled, and Fox was forced to issue an apology and retract the fabricated story. Fox spokesman Paul Schur told TPM: "Carl made a stupid mistake which he regrets. And he has been reprimanded for his lapse in judgment. It was a poor attempt at humor."

Why anybody would believe anything this joker says is difficult to fathom. But he's good enough for McCain.

2. That's what Bin Reilly said when we called him out for asking al Qaida
to bomb San Francisco. It was just humor, satire.

I guess Fox can't tell the difference between falsehood or terrorism or humor.

6. Carl Cameron is Bush's special friend
From the movie, OutFoxed.

(CARL CAMERON, Fox News Senior Political Correspondent prepares for an interview with candidate and then-Governor GEORGE W. BUSH.)

CAMERON: My wife has been hanging out with your sister.

BUSH: Yeah. Good. (Laughs)

CAMERON: ...been all over the state campaigning, and Pauline has been constantly with her.

BUSH: Yeah, (?) is a good person.

CAMERON: Oh, she's been terrific! To hear Pauline tell it, when she first started campaigning for you, she was a little bit nervous. But...

BUSH: Hitting her stride?

CAMERON: She doesn't need notes, she's going to crowds, and she's got the whole riff down.

BUSH: She's a good soul.

CAMERON: She's having fun, too.

BUSH: She's a really good soul.

NARRATOR: And in any other news organization, in fact in CNN that very summer, there was a producer whose husband was a lawyer for the Gore team. And this was a producer who would have naturally covered Gore, who was immediately told you're not to have anything to do with campaign coverage, either covering Bush or covering Gore because of the possible conflict of interest or the perception of a conflict at interest. At Fox, they didn't care. The fact that the senior political reporter whose wife was actually campaigning for the Bush campaign at a time when this guy's covering them, that didn't even register. It never would have occurred.

CAMERON: All right, you guys ready? All right.

BUSH: (Laughing) That's great.

CAMERON: Here we go governor.

(BUSH laughs)

CAMERON: See? Little things that get disclosed.

BUSH: I like that.

CAMERON: (Serious voice) Thank you for joining us, sir.

BUSH: (Serious voice) Yes, sir. Thanks, Carl, it's good to see you.

CAMERON: Just a few days away from the convention, now...

NARRATOR: ...Through the act of having some sort of basic journalistic integrity that is just missing from that organization.

9. McCain is behind the lie about flags in dumpsters
McCain also received stolen property. McCain must be forced by public outrage to apologize to Obama and the DNC. McCain must also compensate the DNC for the stolen flags.

That's how it would go if Obama did what McCain did.

12000 flags are probably worth a few thousand dollars and this is theft.

18. I'm sure the FOX news network approved of Cameron's "attempt at humor".
Whenever Republicans are forced to apologize for anything these days, they like to tell us they were only joking. The famous "celebrity" anti-Obama ad was, according to McCain, just a joke. How about we use that excuse the next time the Republicans get their shorts in a knot about something we say?

and we can send it around on the internet.

we can't depend on the big whore media to do anything. but with the internet we now have some power and might be able to show videos of it to people who only tune in to the whore media.

21. He's A Textbook Pathalogical Liar
Edited on Sun Sep-07-08 09:22 AM by Dread Pirate Roberts
Anybody remember the video of his pre-interview chat with candidate Bush in 2000 when he discussed how hard his wife was working on the Bush campaign. I think it part of it was on Outfoxed. He told Bush that he had been an All-American basketball player in college! He said something like "it was only division 3 but still..." It made Bush drool "Whoa, Camerones!" What a crock! I think this is the link to the video. www.moveon.org/r?539 Forgive me if it doesn't work, the Dread Pirate Roberts has been at sea a long time. Being a former Division 3 athlete prior to my pirating days, I naturally went to see if I could find evidence of the "accomplishments" of this contemporary of mine. Dean Wormer said it best..."Daniel Simpson Day. Has no grade point average. In fact, there's no record of you ever having attended Faber" While he may have attended Bates, he was no All-American. In fact he doesn't even register in their all time statistical leaders. If he played, he played on a bunch of less than mediocre teams. But in his zeal to impress the Great Decider, he couldn't help but to spin a little yarn. Arrgh. There's a name for people like that and it ain't Journalist. www.healthyplace.com/Radio/articles/pathological_liars.htm

edited to try to make the links work. Arrgh.
