No really this guy is serious
Edited on Mon Sep-08-08 09:24 PM by repo
This is posted for inspiration and humor. If this is all they've got I mean it's a cakewalk. This editorialist has been around for forty years and STILL can't get picked up by the nationals. He sets up straw men and then nearly suffocates when he tips at them and they fall over on him. I used to get angry at him, spittin' mad, but he is so laughably MR ANTI that I was sorry to see him retire. He has very little influence. From the Sunday Sep 7 op-ed Richmond Times-Dispatch

"What's so terrific about Gov. Palin?
How much time do you have? She's a young, articulate, can-do-it-all mother of five. Got into politics at 28 running against tax increases. Four years as mayor of Wasilla, Alaska, gives her more executive experience than Messrs. Obama and Biden combined -- in addition to her executive years as governor. A reform-minded Alaskan (the state's first female governor and, at 44, its youngest) who threw out the (Republican) bums.
Anything else?
She's a change agent who is a finger in the eye of Obama's vacuous "change" mantra. She also does crucial things for Republican success Nov. 4"

1. I'm not so confident.
A diehard repuke neighbor of mine wasn't going to vote for McCain UNTIL Palin made her debut. Suddenly he's no longer concerned about McCain's obvious mental deterioration (he's a doctor, and thinks the guy is losing it) because in his opinion, Palin has more experience than Obama.

There is no man so blind as he who will not see. That blind man, he's a republican.

3. Obama - 10 years in Illinois state senate. Taught law. Six years as Senator.
Your friend may be a doctor but he can't count very well.

6. So McCain's obvious mental deterioration didn't affect his
choice of Palin? As a doctor he should have some reasoning abilities...

10. I agree.
He's looking for an excuse for business as usual, and in Palin, he found it.

7. It is my understanding that the author was brought on board
by the then owner to act as balance to the liberal Virginius Dabney (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virginius_Dabney). He would phrase his columns to directly counter the "liberal views" of the day, which in pre civil rights Virginia included not defeating massive resistance, oddly enough. To this day Ross MacKenzie is still the anti-liberal. Every line of every column is either a direct copy from the republican talking points of the week or an exact counter balance to a recently stated "liberal view"; like calling John Kerry "incurious" days after Kerry lobbed that word against Bush.

If this is their playbook, they really suck.
