Abramoff hired former staffers of Tom Delay (Tony Rudy), Bob Ney (Neil Volz), John Doolittle (Kevin Ring), Conrad Burns (Shawn Vassel, Will Brooke), and Alaska GOP Rep. Don Young (Duane Gibson) among others.

This is just too much fun. It is almost too good to be true...
TPM is now running stories about how the lobbyist that Palin hired to snag earmarks for Wasilla was Steven Silver, known to be a close associate of Jack Abramoff. read more details here.
I can't imagine others aren't also breathlessly rushing to write a diary about it as well, so i apologize if others beat me to the punch, but I will add a bit below the fold to make it, I hope, a bit more than just a rushed news report...
oliver cromwell's diary :: ::
We are doing a fantastic job of sharing the information that is being dug up and circulated about Sarah Palin (aka the gift that keeps on giving). What we need to do now is start connecting a variety of dots to make sure concrete themes develop out of the process such as...
Corrupt dealings. Her connections to Ted Stevens and Steven Silver link her to a whole host of earmark deals to bring home the pork, often funnelled through nefarious networks of shady dealers. To have this directly linked to the Bridge to Nowhere and to have her lie about her relationship to the bridge is also priceless
Secession gate. The news about her involvement in the Alaska Independence Party is dynamite and needs to be explored to its fullest extent. I think it can be tied in to the bizarre statements she often made about how her position as Vice-President would be a great benefit to Alaska. People need to be seriously concerned that her decisions as the potential President of the United States would be made with somebody else's self interest in mind.
There are many other themes that could be interconnected and amplified in the coming days. I knew that McShame's gang couldn't shoot straight, but boy did they hand us a gift here. I originally thought that Palin would be forced to step aside to "take care of family matters," but the more I listen to the super conservatives gush about her, the more I know that McPain is stuck with her. All the more reason to be overjoyed that they didn't bother to vet her. Ha!
UPDATE: Thanks to FoundingFatherDAR who pointed out that these connections were discussed in much greater detail than here in a diary from Sunday by dengre that can be found here:
http://www.dailykos.com/...Sorry for not doing more diligence than that...At the very least I hope it got a few more eyeballs on this issue and I encourage you all to check out that other excellent diary for more information about these connections and reasons to be concerned.
http://tpmmuckraker.talkingpointsmemo.com/2008/09/palins_lobbyist_has_abramoff_t.phpBut Silver appears to have additional ties that could further undercut Palin's image as a squeaky-clean reformer. According to Senate lobbying disclosure reports examined by TPMmuckraker, from 2002 to 2004 Silver listed as a client Jack Abramoff's lobbying firm, Greenberg Traurig. On Greenberg's behalf, Silver lobbied the federal government on "issues relating to Indian/Native American policy," "exploration for oil and gas" and "legislation relating to gaming issues" -- the very issues that Abramoff headed up for Greenberg at the time. In other words, Silver appears to have been a part of "Team Abramoff."
Indeed, one specific bill that Silver lobbied on for Greenberg, according to the forms, was S.627, also known as the Internet Gambling Funding Prohibition Act. A former Greenberg lobbyist confirmed to TPMmuckraker that Silver would have been working to oppose the bill. And it was an earlier version of this very bill that Abramoff famously worked to spike, with the support of Christian conservative leaders Lou Sheldon and Ralph Reed.
