I am removing the title of "Alaska and Texas DUers," to simply ask this:
Edited on Tue Sep-09-08 07:23 AM by timeforarevolution
any agreement with the 30%-ers I describe below being sequestered into their own areas for everyone's safety and sanity?

My intention wasn't to diss Texas or Alaska; they are the two largest states as far as land mass and, yes, they tie to Palin and Bush, but that was a joke. My question is not a reflection on either state, so my apologies.

My post here is really a cry for help...lol...if you'll read, you'll see why, as I truly don't know how to exist in a hopeful manner surrounded by these 30%-ers.

*********

Each day I become more and more convinced, based on personal experience, that a good one-third of the American population has fundamentally different worldviews than the rest of us, so extreme that we cannot comfortably and peacefully live side by side.

I'm talking about the Dominionist Rapture people who want only white people in the world...white CHRISTIAN people who believe exactly as they do...and want to inject this into government and are doing their best to do so, covertly if necessary.

And, I'm also talking about those who "want to make the Middle East a parking lot"; meaning, they want to set off a NU-KU-LAR bomb and get rid of "all of them."

Nice, eh?

Since Alaska and Texas have so much land mass, do you think we could put those 30%-ers there and remove them from the rest of the civilized world, so they can eat their own and destroy one another with their own hatred? They'd be happier surrounded by one another than surrounded by "librul and moderate dumbasses."

Seriously, I don't know how to live in a world where I'm surrounded by people with those worldviews and who vote for the one they want to have a beer with and may make one of the two things above come true.

I grew up with that mindset, and I find it has grown and radiated exponentially; I encounter it more and more, beyond family and acquaintances.

It's depressing the living shit out of me to know that as human beings, we really don't want the same things, as quaint of a saying as that may be.

Oh yeah, the same people who want to make the Middle East a parking lot? They're pro-lifers. Of course.

The hypocrisy is astounding, on a dangerous level.

3. Yeah, I want to leave NC anyway when my daughter graduates...
you're right, the Carolinas are perfect. I was thinking land mass, but, shit, let them live on top of one another.

:)

2. Have you noticed you live in that bastion of liberalism, North Carolina?
Edited on Tue Sep-09-08 06:41 AM by TexasObserver
The last time I checked, neither Texas nor Alaska have a symbol of rebellion against the USA in their flags.

5. Of course....lol....it was a joke, first of all......
Since Alaska is Palin country and huge, and Texas is Bush country and huge, they seemed the perfect fit, but obviously there are uber red states throughout, the Carolinas being two of them.

Sorry the joke wasn't obvious.

4. Texas is turning more and more blue.
I see at least 10 Obama signs/bumper stickers for every one McCain. (Granted, I'm in Dallas county.)

I would really like us to surprise the rest of the nation and go Dem in this election.

15. Texas , Alaska and Canada are too nice and have a lot of nice
folks. How bout we put them somewhere no one else has much use for..say
the Sahara or Mojave, Arizona is good mostly empty place for those who
are empty of spirit or human kindness for others. We can use that
earmark for the Mexico / US fence and just fence them all in together.
I don't have too many hard feelings for that as these same wing nuts
want to put gays, lesbians, transgender, blacks, minority emigrants,
HIV pos folks &etc in the detention camps that boosh and cheney ordered built
by Halliburton to put us politically undependable democrats in. (anothre no bid
contract. for 385 million$ of your taxes)

11. do not buy into the MSM idea that Texas is completely RED!
yes, there are big conservatives here.

but do not forget that this is the same state that elected Ann Richards.

It has only been republican for a few years, compared to it's entire history.

Also, I know of people who would normally vote republican that are squarely for Obama right now.

We just may surprise you.

12. I changed the title of the post, as it really was not meant to be ...
a reflection on Texas or Alaska. It was meant as a joke, but I can understand why Texans especially are sensitive.

My apologies.

I'd say send them to Louisiana and Florida, since they don't believe in global warming anyway. I'd rather keep Texas and Alaska.

But I think that Katrina was just a harbinger of the future of New Orleans.

I have an uncle that lived in NO until a few months after Katrina. He moved and won't be going back.

18. These kinds of threads never go well.
Why don't you learn how to cope with the mindset.

First, join your local Democratic organization so you will have lots of likeminded friends and acquaintances.

Second, get involved with your local school boards, so you can nip that kind of thing in the bud.

Or, move to Europe so you won't have to deal. Unfortunately moving is not an option for many of us. Even those that live in Texas and Alaska.

22. And where should I move to?
Texas is my home, brainiac. I'm getting damn sick & tired of doing what I can to turn my state blue again, only to come on DU & see stupid posts like this. I don't care if you changed the title or "didn't mean" to insult Texan & Alaskan DUers. Stop using Texas (and now Alaska) as your whipping boys whenever you want to whine about the state of the country today.
