U. of Iowa shucks ban on corn-eating contest

September 9, 2008

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The University of Iowa has shucked its ban on an annual corn eating contest after removing the gluttony.

Phillip Jones, a vice president, said many people asked what he had against corn -- the state's hallmark crop -- after he canceled the contest last year.

''I got a lot of complaints from around the state,'' he said. '' 'Why do you have something against corn?' It's not the corn; it's the concept.''

The contest will be allowed this year -- but students will compete to see who can eat a single ear of corn the fastest.

3. Muscatine Iowa grown corn is awesome....
especially the ' peaches n cream '......best corn on the cob ever....

4. We buy Hesse Sweet Corn
in Cedar Falls (that is when our friends aren't just dropping it off at our door!) :P Sweet Corn and Tomato season is the best part of summer in Iowa!
