For those who have lived in Alaska, or want to visit!
Here are photos of a polar bear attack on a man caught in the open !

These pictures were taken in Alaska while people watched and could do nothing to stop the attack. One person captured the terrifying scene using a telephoto lens. Reports from the local newspaper say that the victim should make a full recovery

This is not for the squeamish, so be warned...

6. what a cutie
i have been to alaska, and it is beautiful. it is wilderness, the scale of which i had never seen in the lower 48. i was struck by the fact that it is untamed, unlike the lower 48. the humans arent in charge there. i had never experienced that feeling.
you can go for miles and miles and there arent any humans around. alaska is what it must have been like in the lower 48 before humans took over. its well worth the trip.
on a lighter note, anchorage itself is a wide open town...lot of loudness, drunken brawls, and not a town i would want to visit again.

fairbanks had the biggest carharrt store i have ever seen in my life. gets pretty cold there, so i can see why they need it.

its just an amazing state, and takes your breath away. makes the lower 48 seem like an endless continumn of fast food malls and subdivisions.

i can see why people love it who live there.

Exactly right! After college my husband and I drove up the highway as far North as it would take us. When you drive into Canada, suddenly all of the fences disappear and it is vast beautiful scenery as far as the eye can see, untouched by human hands. This is truly God's Country! I know that there are many atheists on this board, but when you see something as incredibly amazingly beautiful as Alaska, it just seems as if it were painted by an loving creator. I can see how people wouldn't believe in the existence of the Great Spirit in the city...but come to Alaska!!

We returned to Cali but never could get Alaska out of our hearts, never actually wanted to.
Now we are living in our home we built on the Kenai Peninsula and feel so fortunate to have gotten out of the rat race, especially after everything that has happened since. But I am not supposed to tell you how wonderful it is here...Alaskans have this general agreement that we do not tell everyone how otherworldly it is as we might become infiltrated. We are supposed to tell everyone it is TOO COLD, the winter is just too horrible...nevermind the greatest views while skiing in the world, the endless snow machine trails, ice skating at the lake down the road, the magical Aurora Borealis....
