has anyone called for a boycott of the Twin Cities yet ( a la the boycott of CO during Amendment 2, |
|
the boycott of SD because of the anti-choice bill, and the boycott of the anti-ERA states)??
I am placing calls to the mayors, the tourism boards, chambers of commerce, etc, to tell them that, in view of their hate-filled behaviour during the RNC, their obvious animus toward anybody who isn't a sheeple, and their obvious contempt for the constitution and the rule of law, that they will never get a cent of my money. Maybe hitting them in the pocketbook is something they will understand.

1. Why would I boycott the Twin Cities or any city that host a convention |
|
I remember when the RNC came to Philadelphia, ultimately the RNC is nothing more than a source of revnue for the city. And not all the police officiers there are from the city, some of them may have been brought in from the suburbs.

People don't realize that cities don't give a shit about the politics - they love the millions of dollars in revenue that the convention will bring into the city.

Minnesota is closely divided state that we need to have in our column. Kerry took it in 2004, but only with around 51 percent of the vote. The state elected a repub governor by a narrow 20,000 vote margin and it has one Democratic senator (Klobuchar) and one repub (Coleman). We have a shot at knocking off Coleman. In the House, the Minnesota delegation has five Democrats and three repubs.
So having the Democratic Party or Democrats in general lead a "boycott" of the Twin CIties is a really good way to help the repubs.
edited to not be quite so snarky. A little, but not as much
