Lieberman increasingly expecting to lose Senate chairmanship after Obama attackJohn Byrne
Published: Tuesday September 9, 2008

Senator Joe Lieberman (I-CT) expects to lose his position as chairman of the Homeland Security Committee if Democrats pick up four or five additional seats in the Senate, according to his aides, who floated the claim in Tuesday's Politico.

According to the Connecticut senator's staff, Democrats are upset about his speech at the Republican National Convention in which he attacked Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL). Lieberman was the Democrats' vice presidential choice in the 2000 presidential election.

"Lieberman returned to Capitol Hill Monday — his first day back since speaking at the convention — and was greeted by the resignation of his $120,000-a-year legislative director, Joe Goffman," the online political news site reports.

1. I hope he does and decides to caucus with the republicans and then he will
see how insignificant he really has become.

13. Careful what you wish for..
In democracies, people don't get stripped of their citizenship and exiled for having the wrong political views.

Revolting as some of these political views are!

17. Bush is a subverter of democracy...
democracies don't subvert habeas corpus either.

Let's hope that Obama reverses all the Bush damage!

My country has not gone quite that far, but is going in the same direction.

At any rate, Bush is no role model to follow (not that you were suggesting it, but that was the sort of thing I was warning about).

24. By a corrupt government, which begs the question:
Why would any liberal hope a politician would strip any citizen of his/her citizenship because of politics?

9. I wonder what damage the Republican majority
could do between now and January in the Senate? Would it be minimal because the House could stop it or could they and shrubbo really fuck stuff up?

11. I think things are pretty deadlocked
and the House in particular is all engrossed in reelection so I wouldn't expect to see much of anything until after November.
What do you think?

16. I'm actually more worried about what they'd do
between November and January. I'm thinking a pretty good majority in both houses come the new congress and a Democratic President. That leaves the current bunch of assholes that now control the WH will be hoping to really hand off a pig to the new guys so they will do everything they can to screw us before we can officially start to decontaminate the place.

If the dirtbag Lieberman switches to the pukes as he would if he was stripped of his committee assignments I'm worried that the damage would be that much worse. Although the Democratically controlled House could probably put a strong brake on most of the shit the pukes would squeeze out.

18. i'd guess that the reelected assholes will be playing
nice because they'll have to get nice back in the new year.

The ones that lost reelection not so much.

7. He should lose his job
damn I wish there was some way to recall a Senator. That prick is nothing more than a skidmark on the tighty whities of the universe. I for one can't wait for him to become totally irrelevant sometime in January 2009, then I'll even quit sending nasty emails to his office.

14. I heard Ed Schultz say this morning
that Reid has told LIEberman that he is not welcome to caucus with the Dem's any longer. Don't have anything to back that up other than I heard him say it. I sure would like to have some confirmation of that.
