In a year in which Democrats have a lead of 11 million registered-voters over Republicans, and have been adding to that advantage through a robust field operation, are pollsters over-sampling Republicans?

"You could make the argument they are under-representing new registrants," she said, which would mean that the Democrats new edge would not be taken into account.

3. A couple of things:

I have heard or read somewhere that the category called "likely voters" consists of people that have voted before - I think in the last 2 elections. If this is true, first-time voters would not be called.

There is also the theory that many Obama voters do not have land-lines.
