I usually ignore the sappy 9-11 tribute emails... |

Nevermind, I'm too new here to be stirring up that kind of sentiment so soon.

Let's hear one for the Oklahoma City bombing.
Oh, wait. That was done by a white American guy.
Never mind.

4. Okay, so God helps him dial the phone to tell his wife he's not going to make it... |

but won't transport him out of the tower?
Lazy deity, IMO.

5. No, I'll always remember that morning. But I will also remember all the Afghans and Iraqis |
|
who we have slaughtered since that day. And they number in the many 10s and 100s of thousands. Our dead are no more precious than their dead.

13. Maybe you'd have better mileage... |
|
if the sentiments expressed in the OP weren't so kitsch and/or tawdry.

14. How does one get mileage out of a post |
|
Being new here I'm not sure what that refers to.
Am I the first one to post something with "sentiments..so kitsch and/or tawdry" for the sake of the ensuing discussion? Or is that something only fundies do?

19. It's a figure of speech. |
|
For instance, if you ask someone "How are you?" and they reply by stating that they feel "under the weather," that is meant to convey that they are feeling ill.
And no, you're certainly not the first to post something kitsch and/or tawdry, nor will you be the last to do so, nor will you be the last to complain that appropriate deference was not shown to sentiments that, quite frankly, are a little creepy.

Nothing here surprises me. I am beginning to relize that DU (not everyone, but many) is very distrustful of noobs. I guess post count really matters (just don't say breaking news will be huge for 2 days) If I last, someday I probably would post items which would stir up way more controversy for the sake of discussion. Until then I better get the post count up so I have some sort of record that shows I am not a fundie, republitard, freeper, or what ever else DU considers smelly.

And I understand being distrustful of noobs. I read DU long before I posted, I know to get the feel of a forum before jumping in. Since I have been posting opinions online since the olden days when my email address was a long number at compuserve, I expect judement. I also expect that if someone calls you out, they do it in a reasonable manner, don't make snide remarks, and are willing to fully explain themselves. I also will defend myself.
Is it inappropriate to send an uninvited PM to someone? I would like to answer phosturs questions in a more appriate manner, not out here where it will just get me in trouble.
