He has been on the phone for about a half hour discussing politics with our repuke neighbor. The guy isn't a rocket scientist and it started innocently enough. He simply asked him who he's voting for. After he told him mcshame (and me yelling in the backround tell him he's not welcome in my house) my son has simply kept at him. He made the puke answer why he was voting for mcshame. The guy says a few of the talking points, and my son points out the inaccuracies. Then the guy starts on social health care, my son says well we have public schools, its the same thing. If you can't afford to send your kid to private school, each child deserves an education, it's just human. He was really brillant with his answer. He said well, health care would be the same. Everyone deserves not to die because they can't afford it.
Each time the guy would come up with a talking point, my son simply would hear him out and then give him obama's view. Then when the only answer the guy could come up with mcshame was off shore drilling on economic issues, my son went in for the kill. At that point (the wife is now on the phone so he's taking on two idiots) they asked him what Obama's economic view. My son was brilliant, damn he just spoke it totally on target, word by word. I was proud. He's still on the phone, and all those years of debate just may turn two idiots across the street to be dems or not vote at all. I'm proud, he's been paying very close attention. He's 24 by the way, and no he doesn't live with me, we share the cost of a three bedroom home we rent. He's a cool kid, man am I proud. That's the way you do it, I need to take some lessons from him.

I'll tell you, these kids today are amazing, but it's parents like you that make it happen.

3. Hell he's way better then I am at debating |
|
I was yelling in the backround. We watch and read and know. I've always been politically enthralled. He hasn't always paid attention but started non stop since 2004 on his first vote at 21 and he watched it get ripped off. He is way more articulate then I could ever think to be, but damn, he is good.
But thanks for the compliment.

Wanted to know what I thought of Palin, listened, then proceeded to tell me even more than I knew. It is very cool to hear this stuff from them. Congratulations.

6. Bravo son of lynette440! |
|
Once you get past the "Drill, baby, drill!" and "Country First!" facade there really is NOTHING of substance to McCain. If we can keep people talking long enough, some of them just might come around.
A big round of :applause: for you for raising such a smart kid!

now he's saying that these aren't the times to take small things and make big things out of them. He said this is critical. I'm amazed at his patience, the things I want to say to these fools. Wow, if each person could do that to one couple we could possibly change this around. Just keep talking them into reality. Damn, I may need to get him into politics. I would swear that he might be Joe Bidens kid.....LOL

I hope he's volunteering for Obama-- sounds like he'd be a great canvasser or phone-banker.

I am not realy "posting savy" but my son turned a picture he drew of "the president" into his teacher that said "Me and my family don't like Bush." in Feb., 2006. He misspelled "family" but there was no mistaking what he meant. He was in 2nd grade at the time...start them early and they will shine!!!

20. That's my son in 10 years! |
|
My son just started high school this year and has Civics class this semester, great time to have it btw! He's in a class that's overwhelmingly republican, and being in Colorado Springs, you know what kind. He and one other Obama kid are taking on the rest of the class. His teacher is an independent but, remains above it, not directing things one way or the other. I showed my son Obama's website and the issues area. Since then he reads issues and then challenges the rest of the class point by point, much to the delight of his teacher!
They've always told me he was going to be either an actor or president. I've always kinda hoped for the actor. ;) But I did tell him he could be both, it's not unprecedented after all.
Congrats on yours!

"Every single kid in my class (of 24) says their parents are voting for Obama, except for one, and I'm gonna talk to him tomorrow and tell him why I think they should vote for Obama."
I am so proud as well. Good on your son!
I want to start calling voters on the weekend but I'm a little bit scared. I'm doing it though. I think we can make a huge impact on the streets because we are real and authentic. Our intentions are born out of love for this country, for this world, and out of a great and powerful respect for living things. If we all let the hope in our hearts and the light we carry shine through us as were talking to people, we might just change a bunch of hearts over to the right place.
Pull em on to the trail Y'all!!!
