Where is Elizabeth Dole and why isn't the media asking the same question?

The other day an obvious question popped into my head.

Where's Elizabeth Dole?

Yes, I know she has lived outside North Carolina for the last half-century, but where are her visits?

Yes, I know she almost never visited the state over the last six years, instead sending staff members to "her" events.

But, this is an election year. Ole' Liddy Dole has to be out there shaking hands, kissing babies, chatting up farmers, rallying the base. Right?

The answer appears to be, No.

We know that Elizabeth Dole couldn't attend the Republican National Convention because she was so busy. So, I wondered just what she was so busy doing. I went to her campaign web page and there isn't even a list of events. Is that unusual. Yes. It. Is.

2. That's a good question.

As best I can tell, she's only running nasty attack ads against Kay Hagen. There aren't more than 10 or 15 lawn signs in my whole county, most of them grouped up on three or four intersections--none in any yards.

Actually, there are only two McCain signs, one in a yard out in the boonies, and another in a swatch of weeds in Burlington, and the only bumpersticker for him I've seen was in Clarksville, Va. I'm thinking the pukes here either aren't that interested in their party, or they're hiding. Of course, it's early yet.

her last lift was abominable, and must have required at least two weeks' downtime; she'd need another two weeks' downtime to try to repair it; also, she might be waiting for it to adjust a little so it looks more natural; bruising can be severe and you can only hide so much

seriously, people care about these things. it doesn't account for years of absence, but for month-long hiatuses, yes

I think it's great that Kay Hagan actually looks her age. I forgot what real 50-something eyes looked like on a woman. But she'll get the upper/lower bleph after the election --just you wait.

Seriously, she has a tough re-election race, and I'm sure she wants to distance herself from McMoose.

When she never even visits. How can the voters choose her over anyone who is actually a resident?
