Which statement is closer to your own opinion on Hugo Chavez, overall? I'm just curious about the mood of DU in regard to Chavez.

1. Interesting question...I have often wondered the same thing...

I feel that he is trying to do the right thing. Unfortunately, I have reservations because it is hard for a socialist government to survive with capitalist countries breathing down their necks. One thing that could help though is that they have large supplies of oil. The sad part is I think the sentiment is the same from McCain and Obama about Hugo. I hope that when Barack say he will talk to countries, I hope Venezuela is included.

3. Socialism in C21

I actually think he is one of the few people who is bringing socialism into the 21st centuray.

I think his intentions are good and average V people will certainly be better off, hoever i think they risk isolating the global communtiy

2. I voted "supportive, with some reservations"...

And I support him, mostly because the Venezuelan people support him.

I love some of his policies, I really do. But I don't like his rhetoric much and I'm no fan of his authoritarianism.
