Palin Wrong on Former VP Credentials (Fact Check)
Palin attempted to deflect a question about the fact she has never met a foreign head of state by saying that "many" other vice presidential nominees in history hadn't met a head of state either.

However Palin, who obtained her first passport two years ago, would in fact be the first vice president in 32 years who hadn't met a foreign head of state, if she were elected.

The current Vice President Dick Cheney is a former Secretary of Defense and met foreign leaders in that capacity.

Former Vice President Al Gore was a member of the Senate Armed Forces Committee and went on many congressional trips abroad, known as CODELS, where he met foreign leaders.

Former Vice President Dan Quayle was also a member the Senate Armed Committee and went on many CODELS.

Former President George H.W. Bush was the Ambassador to China before he became a vice president and eventually president.

Walter Mondale, who became vice president in 1977 under President Jimmy Carter, was a senator for 16 years before becoming VP and met foreign leaders.

1. Someone on the fark thread put the whole list up!
Showed all the VPs only one had no direct contact with a foreign leader.

4. Link inside!
http://forums.fark.com/cgi/fark/comments.pl?IDLink=3866676

Have your browser search for "2008-09-12 01:50:13 AM" (the time stamp for the first part of the list) and "2008-09-12 03:13:04 AM" (the rest of the VPs) because the thread at this point is over 1,000 posts long.

Also, remember, she said VP candidates, and the list is for elected VPs, so that's how she'll weasel her way out.

5. And if we're lucky...
...Sarah will join the ranks of "former VP candidates" instead of "former VPs".

7. to be fair- she said vice-presidential NOMINEES, not vice-presidents...
does the list put up ALL the nominees, or just those who took office?

9. Nominee List?
It should be trivial to work thorough the nominees list (and, based on my recollections of candidates from the last few decades, will also show that she's full of it).

Should we start with the major parties, or include Libertarians/Greens/etc right off the bat on the theory that that'll be her next line of evasion?

11. Please keep up comparing her to Quayle, though, that helps
If she has less experience than Dan Quayle!
