Has any US politician ever said war with Russia would be acceptable before? |
|
I don't think so because most intelligent people know that doing so would be the end of the world.
I can't imagine any politician saying this without being sized up for a straitjacket before they hurt themselves or others.

13. Reagan fantasized about bombing Russia |
|
But I don't think he contemplated the aftermath of such an event.
Conservative nutcases don't deal well with details.

22. For all of his fantasizing |

he knew better than to start a war with the USSR, and so did his advisors. Nearly every president rattled the saber (and every premier), but both sides knew, deep down, that neither could actually win it.

Stupidest thing I have ever heard from a candidate. No matter how poorly the question is worded, you never even hint to that.
She has no clue about the "rules" or parameters of how to speak of foreign affairs. It is clear that ALL she knows is that she can see Russia from there.

8. But she's kind of young and attractive for a female politician.... |
|
she even has political street cred because she wears glasses. Nevermind that she's a vapid, ex beauty queen that likes to shoot moose and wolves with AK47's from helicopters.
Uneffin' believable. Just when you thought the US couldn't get stranger, the right wing astonishes us all, even the msm.

deserves further discussion. The most obvious next question is what exactly does Sarah Palin think a war with Russia would entail? What are the goals? What results would she hope to achieve? What are the potential risks, in her opinion?
I suspect that Joseph Biden will focus on these questions, come debate time.

If any Dem would have made a blunder like that they would have be run out of town on a rail by our media as unstable.
And I would have agreed with that.
This needs to be beat to death.
These people are very dangerous.

I wanted Gibson to delve a little deeper. It's not exactly a secret that we would defend NATO allies. I want her answers to these questions:
1. Why does she think that Russia wasn't provoked? I really wish that Gibson would have pressed her on that comment. Russia's response was certainly over the top, but it wasn't exactly unprovoked.
2. And *why* exactly does *she* want Georgia in NATO? Because Bush and McSame do? Because of the BTC pipeline? I just wanted to hear it in her words. It seems to me that Georgia is just a little bit too reckless for NATO consideration. While it's true that USSR/Russia has never attacked a NATO member, a NATO member has never gone out of its way to poke the bear. Don't start nothing; won't be nothing.
3. Why does *she* support Georgia apparently with no qualifications? (Same question regarding her support for Israel.) Because they broke away from Russia? Then why does she not support the two territories that wish to break away from Georgia?
All hell, what the fuck do I know? I'm just a dumb engineer; she's the one with a bachelor's degree in communications from the University of Idaho.

24. She said the Russian attack on Georgia was unprovoked |
|
Well even if she was right about that the Russians would have been perfectly justified attacking Georgia according to the Bush Doctrine. The US had troops in Georgia training their Army, Georgia is their next door neighbor so Russia was under eminent danger and had to make a preemptive strike.
