http://www.electoral-vote.com/

I've said all along I knew McGramps was going to win this fucking election. But it doesn't hurt any less. And with this awful, awful human being running with him, it only makes it worse......

6. The debates haven't even started yet.
The Republicans are just getting their bump, once their girl gets pummeled by Biden in the debate, not to mention Obama smacking McCain down, things will look a lot different.

12. I want to see the polls after the ABC Palin interviews are shown and cut to pieces
Just the clips I caught last night (and I did the best I could to avoid those) lowered opinions of Palin. Hopefully when the general public sees how totally uninformed she is they will come to their senses.

7. This place is becoming a pain in the ass to visit every day.
Some people around here are acting like election day is today!

The Democratic base is the most negative, pessimistic, masochistic group in this country.

Maybe THAT'S the reason we lose every 4 years. Self-fulfilling prophecy and all that crap. We work ourselves up for a loss and then end up doing NOTHING to make sure people get out and vote in November.

19. Wrong
In 2004, I was sure we were going to win. I would have bet my life on it. Until 7:30 EST, when suddenly the wheels came off.

I'm going to vote. So is everyone I know. I'm in a state as sure to go for Obama as anywhere in the nation. But I live hundreds of miles away from anywhere red. I can't talk to anyone face to face from a state we need. And I don't even know if it would matter anyway.

We lose because there are a lot of stupid people in this country. Caught up in voting for people they "like" rather than are competent.

I've said that once Bush became president, ANYONE could. I guess I didn't even realize how true that was.

15. Way too early to throw in the towel
I've been a lurker here since the 2004 election but just got up the gumption to register. I could not agree with Connie Corleone more if she was the hamster spinning on the rusty ol' wheel inside my noggin. While I do agree with the assertion that Obama needs to get tougher on his detractors, did the campaign not just state that they were going to do just that no more than a day ago? I realize people are anxious and I'm the last person that wants to go through another eight years of McBush II, the Electric Boogaloo but you have to give these things more than a half a day to sink in. Although it really is a sad statement on our country that people are more influenced by a television ad than actual discourse on real issues but anyhoo . . .

I'm not giving up until the Moose lady sings - this election has not been decided yet. I'd suggest that all Democrats do the same because for one thing, it's a hell of a lot better to wallow in hope than in fear of the unknown.

Back to the shadows!

24. that map changes EVERY DAY, someone has a widget in their sig line that
actually is a time lapse from about Aug 1 forward and it could trigger seizures. The pale blue and pink ones and the white ones with borders keep changing colors as the days go by back and forth up and down.

THis thing is so totally in flux right now.

These polls are not tracking newly registered voters
These polls are not tracking people who only have cell phones or no phone at all.
Some of the source polls are heavily weighted toward Republicans.
These polls do not reflect any opinions of events from the last 48 hours.

Look at the states with the pink borders: the point spreads are small. Look at Texas ..we normally have a 15% or higher Rep over Dem and it is varying between 7 and 9 percent with roughly 9% either undecided, or third party. Texas has an enormous number of new young excited voters. I am not saying we will take Texas but we are this year making a run for it.

it ain't over til it's over.

20. Election Day is almost two months from now!
McCain's riding a convention and Palin-bounce, there have been no debates, polls aren't taking young voters and newly-registered voters into account, and Obama's ground game is superb. We're registering people all over the country in much larger numbers than the McSame camp has managed, and our volunteers and organizers far outnumber the other side's.

Everything is still in our favor -- one bad week of polling shouldn't be all it takes to make you guys give up.

Why do you spend energy posting here? I'm so tired of this negativity and unfortunately there is alot of it at this site. In fact, I took a little break from here since it was such a downer but came back because of Rachel Maddow's show getting preempted.

Ok, I'm going to start a thread on what some of you should do. You already have some hints from some well-meaning friends in above posts. Read those and remember: If you can't say something positive...

DON"T SAY ANYTHING!

Edited on Fri Sep-12-08 09:20 PM by Tutonic
McCain is trying to run up a large enough lead so that when October comes and it starts to evaporate he has maintained enough to pull it off. Remember, they told Dr. King to go home time and time again and he continued to march toward Selma. Don't give up, we are making history.

29. I know after '00 and '04 its hard to have hope, but its not over
Obama's got a bigger chance than Gore and Kerry combined, he can win it.

But looking at the responses that some people have left of your post, I wouldn't blame you if you just stayed home and stopped caring.
