1. i'll have to check the price at the Rip Off Chevron near me
Chevron, Condi's cronies, usually have the most expensive gas in my area. over the past several weeks, Chevron's prices have been doing the Pre-Election Dive in Support of Repubes, and the station i use as my benchmark was down to $4.05 for premium last night. i was actually surprised that it went DOWN from the $4.09 it was the day before, after all the Ike news. tonight will tell the tale... are Repube votes more important (price stays at $4.05 or is even lower), or is profit gouging during a hurricane more important (price zooms up to $4.21 or more)?

i am in NorCal so your pricing may vary.

3. We've hit $5.49 in Northeast Tennessee in several locations
$4.79, 4.99 and $5.49 seem to be the order of the day here around the lunch hour. Judging by the reaction here, it appears that its more important to capitalize on the hurricane panic than it is to try to help McCain and the GOP. Maybe a get it while you can approach, facing an Obama election.

5. Hopefully we'll even have gas once you come down here
The rumors here from the suppliers in the supply chain, the panic buying and the questionable impact of Ike are really putting a stress on them - they are saying that it could be next week before some stations get a resupply, assuming Ike doesn't take out all of our refining capacity.

6. Gas jumped 16 cents overnight here in OKC
And I think we're among the least hit with the hikes.

7. Gas is now $5.00 a gallon in Michigan, and the lines stretch around the block
at many stations. There is a rumor running wild that there will be nationwide gas rationing by Monday, and people are totally freaking out here - in Michigan.
