Adrift Freighter Rescue Abandoned - they're on their own
Just announced on KHOU tv, that the Military and Coastie rescue of 22 crew members aboard the crippled freighter off Texas Coast failed. Winds were too high to conduct the rescue and it was halted, the ship is now adrift in the path of Ike.

May their god be with them.

Hopefully they can set an anchor when they get closer to shore

Heard this morning that it's full of oil/fuel. With luck and hard work, they'll be able to save both their lives and keep the ship from running aground.

1. I presume they at least have a tow line on here and will pull her into the wind.
If nothing else ...

4. They are now believed to be safer on the boat than during a rescue
Best wishes!

5. They should tie themselves tightly to something on the ship.
If there is any power and steering at all left, someone should try to keep the ship going into the waves.

It will probably be carried onshore.A lot of huge boats have been in hurricanes. Out of human hands now.
