and people who said god was talking to them landed there, not in politics.

People talked to gods all the time and that was OK. It was only when those gods talked back that families got concerned enough to call an ambulance and get Uncle Goofy admitted and on meds.

Fully half the women in that hospital were only women nobody wanted any more, and they should have been deinstitutionalized. However, a good half of the remainder were people who claimed to get messages from the almighty, and they definitely belonged where people could make sure they took their meds and ate 3 meals a day and stayed away from things that could harm themselves or the rest of us---like politics.
