Reports from around the Southeast tell of...
Edited on Fri Sep-12-08 05:00 PM by misanthrope
...runs on gas stations, long lines at pumps and some places even running out of gas. Prices have climbed 30 cents in less than 10 hours in a lot of places.

1. I'm in Tallahassee, FL,
and I've yet to see a gas station with less than 20 cars. It's a mess here, and we're not going to have any gas left.

I'm cool because I don't work this weekend, and it's a college town. The college kids will simply have to vomit on the sidewalks as they walk home instead of in the back cabs.

3. More than 30 cents
Try hikes to $5.00 and higher, with Rrumors that morning will bring $6.00 MINIMUM...

4. It's not just the Southeast where it's happening...Ohio & Indiana, too!
I just spoke with a friend from the Midwest and she says she just finished filling all their tanks and containers, cause gas-shortage had been reported yesterday.

5. A friend of mine in SW Georgia
just called as he was driving home, and he said the lines at the gas stations - with jacked-up prices, by about thirty cents - were long and feisty, people cutting in, getting ugly.

We are so screwed, in every possible way.

7. 13 refineries have shut down because of Ike
http://cnnwire.blogs.cnn.com/2008/09/12/13-of-26-texas-refineries-shut/

i think that has something to do with it. i live in a small town in sw michigan and i saw a ton of cars gassing up here at a small station , i guess they also heard the news.

8. There have been no price changes, yet, in SW Florida as far as I can tell...
Filled up for $3.59 this morning, price was same when I drove by in the afternoon.
