The Fear Factor; US voters.
"The unpredictable element that has turned every recent US election into a potential horror movie: the American voters.

At this point, if you're not paranoid about US voters, you haven't been paying attention. We depend on them to do the right thing, but it's like having your investment portfolio handled by an insane uncle. In order to understand American presidential politics, you must first disconnect all your commonsense receptors. Factors and developments that would seem to have obvious consequences turn out to mean nothing, or even have the opposite effect than what a sane person would expect.

...

By any reasonable standard, the Republican campaign wagon should be axle-deep in a tar pond by now. Yet McCain & Obama are still neck & neck in the polls. It's hard to fathom, unless you consider the obvious factor that no one wants to mention: many Americans simply won't vote for a black presidential candidate, particularly one who displays a frightening ability to use three-syllable words."

Steve Burgess, in WE
Canada

Excellent article that sums up how sane people around the world feel.

1. I agree, and my message to them: get your act together this election, or
go under. That simple.

Everybody in this country ought to be afraid... and not of terrorists. The terrorists are in the Republican party. Wake up and smell the coffee - it's the last chance.

2. Yes many will not
Vote for Obama because he is black, yet they will vote for a 72 year old man who will give us another 4 years of the same old crap we have gotten from Bush. They will vote for the 72 year old man knowing he may not live his full term in office, and then the VP, someone with no experience at all to be VP, let alone president, would take over and run this country. A woman who has radical religious beliefs who thinks the war in Iraq is God's plan. A woman who thinks the "end of times" could be in her hands, and could start a war with Russia. Yep, don't vote for a rational black man, but put in the party that got us where we are today, and who could start world war III in order to bring about the biblical "end of times"! :eyes:
