It's amazing how many people don't know what the Bush Doctrine is |
|
Perhaps that's why this country is in so much trouble. I hear journalists admitting that they had to stop and think about it or they really weren't sure about it. There are other boards I visit where a good portion of the people admit to not knowing what it is. It's downright frightening that people were blindly following after Bush without understanding the doctrine behind his warmongering. Some are using their own ignorance as a defense for Palin, which is just bizarre since she aspires to the 2nd highest office in the land, but hopefully her little slip up will make people actually pay attention and learn something.

1. I am not sure exactly what the Bush doctrine is. |
|
I don't think that Bush knows what it is. All I know is that it has not worked.

They just give it the fancy name of a 'doctrine' to make it seem like it's a plausible way to conduct oneself.

7. It gives Bush the belief he can invade Canada if he thinks it's a terrorist state |
|
or if he thinks it harbors terrorists.
This doctrine only applies to smaller, weak countries, though.

12. Or even if he thinks they may be considering acquiring WMDs that is sufficient |
|
The bar is set pretty low.
Hope Russia or China never uses a similar doctrine on us.

8. The Bush Doctrine is in direct contravention to the UN Charter. |
|
You can't just attack someone because you think they MIGHT attack you some time soon. It has to be a lot more imminent and proveable than that. Bush just made up a threat and then attacked the country. It was straight out of "Wag The Dog".

9. Are these people running for the second highest office in the land? |
|
Then it's not terminology that they absolutely should be familiar with. Most people have never heard of spectroscopy, but if you're planning on being a chemist, you're considered a moron if you haven't.
They do however need to know what the terminology represents. The validity of the idea of taking out a region pre-emptively so one of our cities 'doesn't become a mushroom cloud' was debated endlessly.

13. It's irrelevant if the press knows |
|
what the Bush doctrine is, every applicant for high office should know it and should be able to intelligently make a comment on it's relevance to their campaign. Sara Palin hasn't got a clue on anything outside of Alaska. She is very questionably qualified to be Governor of one of the least populous states and certainly not qualified for any higher office. She is an insult to the presidential selection process and an insult to the American people.
