My laptop is broken at the moment. Posting from son's desktop in his dirty room. (I need to get after that kid about cleanliness.) No rain here yet. A little wind. It's hard to stay vigilant about these hurricanes when you work so hard to prepare and then nothing happens where you are. I developed cabin fever today because the house is so dark from being boarded up. Still, I'm relieved that we don't have to worry about a tree falling on our home.

53. yeah, to our NE. We should be okay here. The weather agencies

gradually moved the storm landfall further NE as the week went by, but sometimes the hurricanes "wobble", and that can change their path. It makes a big difference what side of the storm you are on also, and we are on the side where the winds will have already been over land before hitting us. We are expecting gusts up to about 60mph later tonight, with about 40mph stable winds. It will be alittle better tomorrow morning thru noon.

blah... we're expecting Ike on Monday up in the North East, they're saying but it'll just
be rain. Tropical Storm Hanna caused a lot of destruction up here in MA and in NH. A whole
damn street collapsed 5 miles from me due to almost 6" of rain in about 2 hours!!! The whole
frigging street buckled and collapsed, stranding homeowners and renters. It was a trip to see!
At any rate, hope you've all been well. I've had a cold all week and have been sleeping. Feeling
a little better today. Resting helped a lot but I also have allergies and it's pollen season up
here now. I hate it and I thought it was allergies but it was both a cold and allergies.

Unitarian Universalist Church has left the pastor asking what role hateful speech
from popular right-wing media personalities may have played in the tragedy.
"A lot of people are hurling insults from the safety of television studios, the safety
of radio studio, the safety of cyberspace," says Rev. Chris Buice, "So that's a void in
our community — the chance to be in the same room and to have these exchanges and remember

Her new hubby, who I would've pegged as a rwinger, was supporting Hillary in the primaries, despises McSame, and is appalled by Palin. Two repub converts for Obama in GA.
