Obama versus Palin
That is what Karl Rove and the McCain campaign have successfully accomplished.

She was a surprise pick, she's young, she's good looking, she's a religious fundamentalist, and she's in the media spotlight.

They knew McCain was a loser and they needed people to focus on someone else. She's the one campaigning for president now. She's doing the stump speeches while McCain stands behind her. She's the one being interviewed by Charlie Gibson. Even the negative news - the pregnancy rumors, the unwed pregnant teenager, the scandals, the lies, it's taking the focus off of McCain.

People are saying they'll vote McCain not because they like McCain, but because they like Palin. Those PUMA die hard Hillary supporters needed this emotional manipulation in order to lock their votes. Those sexually frustrated, bigoted, unhappily married, middle aged men needed a pretty face to lock their votes.

The Republicans know how to win elections. That's all they know, and that's all that matters. McCain ought to be polling at about 30% right now.

Americans are idiots.

1. I think the fascination with her is going to ebb. Yes, the fundies love her, but
we wouldn't get their votes anyway. Other people are going to wake up to the fact that she's
painfully unprepared and is way too RW religious for them.

2. On the bright side, her favorability rating is similar to Joe Biden's.

3. Except...
McCain ought to be polling at about 30% right now.

Hoover got 40% at the bottom of the Great Depression in 1932.

4. Don't equate Palin with Obama like you did in the openind OP. He is
candidate for President of the USA. She is Vice President candidate. Comparing the two of them only deminishes Obama.

P.S. I think she has peaked. McSame's turnout has gone back to double digits now that she isn't there with him.
